Set towards the end of season 1 but with a slightly different timeline. Steve doesn't date Nancy and the upside down still exists, they just find out about it a different way.
November-December 1983
After fighting the Demogorgon with Nancy and Jonathan, they decided they owed us an explanation. They explained everything they knew about the Upside Down, Eleven and Hawkins lab. I told Nancy and Jonathan about my home life. It was personal but after fighting a monster from another world with them, I figured they wouldn't be too freaked out. Nancy offered her basement as a place to stay for a little while and Jonathan offered up his couch which was now covered in debris and monster blood. Nancy and Jonathan drove with us to my house to pick up my cat. I called my aunt while I was there, and she told me to bring everything I could fit, and I was moving in with her. This was the last straw. She said she would call the police, but I told her not to. She agreed she wouldn't only because I was leaving now and would be safe. Nancy helped me pack up as many clothes as I could into bags while Steve and Jonathan went back to Steve's house to collect some empty boxes he had somewhere. Jett sat on my bed as we packed my room up as much as possible. The boys returned and all my important belongings and things I needed were packed into the 3 large boxes they had found. I managed to stuff some things into bags and soon we were on our way to the trailer park. I sat in the backseat with Nancy with Jett on my lap. We arrived and my aunt helped us carry everything in. She promised she would get a moving van to collect my furniture soon. Everything I had was now in a small room in the back of the trailer. It was a spare bedroom, but it was very small. It had a small single bed and a set of drawers, I doubted much of my furniture would fit. Nancy tended to the small cuts on my chest while the boys and my aunt carried in boxes. We shut Jett in the bathroom while we were moving things in and out. Steve drove Nancy and Jonathan home after we promised to meet at Jonathan's house the next day to meet everyone and discuss what had happened.
TIME JUMP:
I had been living with my aunt for over a month now. We had managed to get the rest of my belongings and some furniture without much fuss. Aunt Rebecca spoke to my mom beforehand and she let her get everything. She almost seemed relieved to be rid of me. I finally had friends. Nancy would invite me over for sleepovers often and the Byers invited my aunt and I for dinner once a week. I still had a crush on Steve but neither of us had spoken much about it. We had held hands a few more times but nothing more. I think we both needed time to process everything before we went any further, but it was clear by now how we both felt. Steve and I had weekly movie nights at my aunt's trailer. She didn't mind and Steve had insisted on it so he could spend time with Jett. The nights often ended with Steve and I fast asleep on the couch with Jett on one of our laps.
It was Christmas eve, and we were headed to the Byers for dinner. Nancy and Steve would be there too. Steve's parents were away for Christmas, but they had left him presents to open on Christmas Day. He had put one under our small tree when we invited him to spend the night and have Christmas with us. Jonathan took pictures all night and promised to give us all copies of the good ones.
We got back quite late, and I told Steve he could have my bed. He refused and we ended up just sharing it. We curled up together and then he kissed me. I smiled into the kiss. We both broke away and lay there comfortably together.
"Hey Charlotte."
"Yeah."
"I think I love you."
"I love you too, Steve."
We both fell asleep soon after. Without saying anything, we both knew we were more than friends now.
