An Offer - Red x Reader

You happen to impress Red with your smarts. Reader has no specific gender and goes by they/them.

Your POV- 

This fieldtrip was gonna suck. 

You were the only person in your friend group who was allowed to go. You thought at least your best friend would be coming, but she cancelled last second. So now you had to go. With all the stupid people in your class. 

You were known as the smart kid of the class. You got good grades. Everyone else in your class was slow and didn't get anything right, so they always asked you to do their homework or ask if they can copy your answers. 

Sometimes you even got threatened... 

Whatever. Nevermind that. You were going here to have fun, even if you had to go on your own. 

When the bus crashed and you got kidnapped, everyone turned to you. 

"Y/N! Please! You should know how to get out of here!" One of the classmates begged. 

"We need you!" "Y/N!" "They must know something!" "Help us!" "You're the smartest one here!" 

That's when a voice spoke on the speaker. He explained that you needed to find blocks and stack them up. For some reason. 

Red POV- 

I find it interesting that everyone decided to turn to one specific person. According to them, they were smart and knew a lot of things. 

I'll keep a close eye on them. 

After all, I have been considering a partner lately. 

Your POV- 

You spend the next few nights instructing the best strategies to search for items. You were basically named the leader in this whole "adventure." 

All you wanted to do was get out of there and finish everything. There was nothing in store for you here, so why stay? 

While you were walking alone, you were suddenly shoved against the wall by the jock of the class. 

"Listen here, we may not be at school, but you're still gonna listen to everything I say. Keep me with you so I can survive. Or else I'll beat you almost dead." He growled. 

"What? Why are-" 

He roughly pushed you. 

"You better listen to me unless you want my knuckles meeting your face." He threatened. 

Before you could say anything, he fell to the ground. You looked behind him and there was what looked like another Rainbow Friend. He was holding an empty syringe. He was red and wore a suit and lab coat. 

"I didn't kill him, I just made him faint before he could hurt you." He said before you assumed the worst. 

"Oh, okay." 

"He'll wake up in a few hours. I suggest you come with me before he brings back-up. I watched, and he seemed fairly close to other strong looking people in your class." The Rainbow Friend said, "I'm Red by the way." 

"Well, I'm-" 

"-Y/N. I know. I've watched you through the cameras. Your wisdom made me take interest in you." Red started walking, you caught up with him. 

"I wouldn't call it wisdom, it's just basic high school stuff." You giggled, flattered. 

"I could teach you some things." Red offered. He led you to a secret office. There was an entire camera system. 

"So what's the plan?" You asked, "What should I do here?" 

"You can remain here for as long as you want, if you want to go, go, I won't stop you. But I wanted to offer you to join me as my partner here." Red said, "I've been looking for somebody to work with and you just stand out." 

"So you kidnap students?" 

"How else would I have met you? I'm a creature, nobody in their right minds are gonna approach me in public. In fact, I might as well be contained by the government. This is my only shot." Red said. 

"I guess that's true." You nodded, "I wouldn't mind being your partner! If it means I get to learn new things. But I also want to continue school and staying home..." You thought. 

"How about this: you finish school and whenever you're ready, come. I'll be waiting for you." Red suggests. 

"That doesn't sound half bad... If I'm gonna work with you, I'm gonna get a scholarship in some sort of science class! Then I'll move in to a house nearby and start working here!" You said. 

"That's the spirit. I know I chose the right one for the job." Red nodded, "You know... I'll let you leave early. You finish school and if you want to work with me- or even just drop by- I'll be waiting." 

"Okay..." You nodded. 

5 years later... 

Finally graduated college! You got your own house close to that old facility too, you were already planning on visiting and seeing if you truly wanted what Red offered. 

What? It was a scientist creature, it sounded interesting! 

You walked to the fence and it opened for you. 

A door opened and you walked in. It shut behind you and you were suddenly embraced in a hug. 

Red POV- 

Is this how dogs feel like when their owners come home? The feeling of wanting to pounce on them and shower them with love? 

I recognized them as Y/N immediately. They really did come back. I was starting to doubt and accept that they wouldn't. 

For some reason my interest evolved into what most people know as love and I was hoping they would come back so I could explore those feelings. Also that feeling of love just really made me want to see them. 

As soon as the door shut behind them, I jumped at them and hugged them. 

"Welcome back."
