Skylar's pov

I stood looking out to the deep blue waters of the ocean watching the sun lowered onto the horizon making the sky a mixture of vibrant colors. Wanting to get away form the chaos that is my parents' anniversary gala, I had to secretly escape onto the balcony to watch the sun set and to get away from all the people inside.

Captivated by the sounds of the waves that crash onto the shore that make their own music I decided after a while it was time to go back inside when the sun had completely set.

Going for another glass of champagne, my fifth one this evening, I would need it if I had to pretend to be the precious innocent daughter everybody thinks I am. I looked around at the people my parents invited to celebrate their anniversary with. Nothing but tailored suits and fancy dresses as far as the eyes can see, aside from the waiters. I wouldn’t expect anything less considering the people here ranged from dirty politicians to other Dons like my father.

Finding it weird I didn’t see my father at my mothers’ side when my eyes landed on her, I wondered where he went. I saw my sister talking to one of the guys that was trying way too hard to get her attention at the beginning of the party. Trying to get laid no doubt, while my mother was talking to some of her friends.

With still no sign of my father. The room started to become suffocating so I began to wander the corridor, wandering around to see what the rest of the building was like.

The beautiful marble walls shone like stars from the fluorescent light that hung above the well decorated hallway, in its own way it looked mesmerizing. My heels clicked against the tile floor as I walked down the different hallways.

My steps slowed down when I heard voices coming from one of the doors along the corridor.

The door slightly ajar a few meters in front of me, I recognized one of the voices as my fathers’ but I didn’t know who the other voice belonged to. I slowly approached the door wanting to know what my father could possibly be doing instead of entertaining his guest and being at his wife's side.

“ Mr. Morello, if you take this deal, we will be one of the most successful and powerful Dons in the country and richer.” Antonio,my father said.

“ With all due respect Mr. St.Clair I’m already the most successful and powerful don in this country and I do say this respectfully I’m also richer and more feared than you so why should I take this business offer?” the mystery voice said.

I couldn’t see my father's face but I knew from the silence that followed that his lip was pressed into a thin line.

“ I’m aware of your wealth and status in our line of work Mr. Morello and I have not forgotten the things you did to get them and to get where you are  but you can always use an ally in this business.” Antonio replied.

“ I do suppose you’re right.” the mystery voice replied. “ I will think about it.”

“ Please do.”

I then heard footsteps coming towards the door, I quickly but quietly ran down one of the hallways to avoid being seen by my father and the mystery man. I saw my father walk down the halls, probably returning back to the gala.

I stood in the hallway, captured by my thoughts. Of course my father will be making a business deal at his anniversary gala. Being one of the best arm dealers he will always try to gain more power through alliances.

Deciding to go back to the gala I turned the corner walking back to the ball room  but collided with a hard, toned chest.

“ You do know eavesdropping is wrong right and it’s especially dangerous when the person you eavesdrop on is me .”

It was the mystery voice. Well not really a mystery anymore. He was wearing a black tailored suit that fit his body perfectly while also showing a glimpse of a tattoo by his neck. Caught off guard by his appearance it took a while for me to reply.

“ Who said I was eavesdropping?”, I said with a raised eyebrow.

“ Well considering I saw you by the door I think you were eavesdropping.” Mystery guy said in a serious tone.

“ Well considering that could have been anyone I don’t care what you think.” I replied confidently.

“And what makes you think you can talk to me that way?” mystery guy said taking a step towards me.

“ What makes you think that you are worth my time talking too?” I countered back with sass.

Mystery guy raised an eyebrow and smirked in what looks to be amusement by my reply then turned to walk away.

“ It was a pleasure meeting you, Blue. I’ll be seeing you again very soon.” he replied with his back turned to me walking away.

“ That's not my name!” I shouted back at him.

Without replying he continued walking away. Standing there for a second finding this encounter a little weird I started to walk back to the party.
