EDITED!!
1- In this au, every clan has the protection of a deity.
(If the clan has been eliminated or has very few people in it, the deity sends a guardian to represent/protect the clan.)2- The Qishan Wen and Qinghe Nie sect border.
3- Wen Qing and Wen Ning and their other relatives are part of a family lineage that cultivates their golden cores based on healing and strengthening golden cores. Although the main family completely abandoned all these techniques centuries ago, Wen Rouhan managed to drag all the other Wen lineages down to hell with him.
4- Jiang Fengmian married Yu Zyuan out of love but, little by little, he became distant due to the mistreatment he received in the first years of their marriage. Yu Zyuan, who was not obligated but thought she would be seen as a weak link for the Yu's if she refused the request, decided to make her husband's life pure hell just because she could. In the end, she regretted it because, when she realized that she loved him, he had already changed his priorities, and being proud as she was, she took out her jealousy on him in any chance she had (instead of talking to him like anyone with a shred of common sense), in the hope that he would realize that she loved him, too but we know how that turned out.
5- At each study meeting, a sect was chosen to host the following year's meeting. They lasted 6/8 months, reaching up to 10 months depending on the sect's infrastructure.
6- Wei Wuxian wrote poetry and sometimes painted small pictures. After his death, someone (Nhs ft. Lwj) managed to get his hands on the books and paintings and distributed copies of one to each sect to be added to the library catalog.
7- Toward the end of Wei Wuxian's life, he, along with Nie Huaisang, created small charitable groups to assist people experiencing homelessness or suffering from food insecurity, which were supported by Lan Wangji after his death.
8- Jin Guangshan (ew) wanted all sects to follow the same military, economic and educational models that the Jin's followed, (it is worth mentioning that, although the Jin's military power was enviable, their economy was based on slavery and land invasion , and their educational models were terrifyingly horrible). He said it was a form of unification of the sects but it was unsuccessful, the first attempt at unification ended with the Wei sect being dismantled and the creation of the Wen sect as we know it today.
9- Each sect has a designated entity to protect them, if the sect is dismantled it is common for some entities to send a guardian to protect the rest of the sect or to represent the sect if everyone is dead. Guardians can indeed be sent if the sect is not at risk of disappearing but this is uncommon.
9.1- The guardian of the Wei Sect lost much of the control he had over Wei Wuxian's well-being as he was 'welcomed' by the Jiang at a very young age and knew very little about the entity of his sect or his sect in general.
9.2- None of the entities had any idea of Wei Wuxian's existence until he was thrown into the Burial Mounds, after this episode, they began to observe their respective sects more carefully and to the shock of 0 people, what they saw left them disgusted. Years pass and they notice that someone is plotting to bring Wei Wuxian back and in this they see the opportunity to catch up with the world of cultivation..° ༘🎧⋆🖇₊˚ෆ
It's likely that I'll change/add more things but for now, that's it.
From here, I will include some headcanons related to the appearance of some characters. You can skip this part if it is not of interest to you.
