EXULANSIS
CHAPTER 01 DA CAPO

it's not difficult to find the line between nightmare and a dream. where it starts blurring is that the fact a memory like that had to be real in his soulmates life. in a world where soulmates memories are dreams for the other; no one said anything about painful memories being such a horror to experience. people say that when you meet your soulmate and touch them for the first time, you can see a glimpse of your future together - future memories to be made.

osamu miya figured it out at a young age, his second year of junior high would be sufficient timing to when he started seeing the memory. he found himself crying after he had been waken up by a blinding light, which in turn ended up being his own twin shining a light source in his face.

in turn, osamu found himself being questioned by his other half if his soulmates memory was actually that chilling. atsumu always insisted it was a one time thing and that osamu's soulmate just had one bad experience. he wondered if any of his memories were to become nightmares to his fated, just like how theirs had become. so he tried his best to make better memories with the people around him, just to help his soulmate to rest a little easier at nights.

"morning." you chimed. the area was loaded with files and encyclopaedias along the walls when the grey door opened. a select few students had already been inside, casually talking about their break from last year into second year.

"ah! y/n-san, good morning! how was america?" a girl waved at you, a bright smile on her face. chou matsuo, your senior and school council president. she had long light brown hair that ended just at her waist, she also had quite the height as she stood at 5'8. though intimidating on the outside, she was warm and welcoming. you remembered the first time you walked into the council room, the sweet smell of baked goods filled the place.

"it was alright..." you muttered, taking a seat beside another one of your fellow council members. "experienced lots of culture shock there."

the boy beside you grinned. "didn't meet your soulmate by any chance? did ya?" akihiko tano, also a second year, was probably the most freelance guy you'd ever met. he was the same height as matsuo and had short black hair that was usually always parted in the middle. you always found him annoying, but he always had good intentions in the end so you could never stay mad at him.

"no. stop joking around, akihiko." you groaned, leaning back in your seat.

"such a downer, y/n-san." another feminine voice spoke up. this time, it was the girl just opposite of you. kotone matsuyama, third year. "do you ever wanna find your soulmate?" she pressed, leaning forwards as her elbows pressed on the desk with a pouting smile tugging at her lips.

she was quite sly in your opinion. she always got what she wanted without a fuss, you thought it was quite amazing. despite being in student council, she never bothered with tidying her uniform a whole bunch. her tie always loose or undone or her blazer wrinkled. you've known her since middle school, and you've still stuck quite close with each other through the years.

you shrugged, not really sure how to feel about the whole soulmate thing. all the dreams you've had, you could never see your soulmates face in any of them. you never complained about the fun dreams you would have as you drifted away in your sleep.

"l/n-san, are you not a fan of soulmates?" jun koyama, a first year. he's quite curious, he often finds himself nosing into other peoples business but somehow never faces the consequences. he's also naive, which isn't he strongest suit. he's roughly around 5'9, making him the tallest council member. he has a mullet with chunky bleached highlights. you're even surprised that went with dress code.
