Quiet Understandings(Erwin X Levi)

A Nice Evening

It was supposed to be a nice evening.

Uri had been nice enough to invite them over for dinner since Historia was staying with Uri and Kenny for the weekend, and with Mikasa being a recent addition to their family he asked if they wanted to bring her over so the two girls could play. Erwin thought it was a great idea considering in the three months she had been with them she was still on the reserved side, which led to her not making a lot of friends. Eren was the only friend she had and while the two got along well...Levi was worried that the boy was going to rub off on her: "She needs friends that don't make my damn walls shake whenever they speak."

Truthfully, Erwin knew that Levi would be reluctant to go over there considering the tense relationship he and Kenny had, but after Erwin begged and explained that Mikasa was the real reason they were going he relented. Erwin could tell that his husband was less than delighted to go to the Reiss-Ackerman home....but still they found themselves outside the door waiting for it to open.

"I can't believe you dragged us here," Levi huffed as he bent down to Mikasa's height to straighten out the headband that was pushing her bangs out of her face, "Bastard can't keep his mouth shut half the time."

Erwin watched as his husband's hands seemed to shake the slightest bit as he brushed his fingers through Mikasa's already perfectly combed and straightened hair. Meanwhile, she just let him do what he needed before reaching up to gently grab his wrist and then slide her hand down to hold his. The action seemed to calm the man down enough for him to stand up instead of fussing over her hair. Over the course of the months Erwin loved to watch Mikasa slowly get attached to Levi, it was incredibly endearing to witness.

All he could offer was a light smile as he shifted Armin in his arms, "If he says anything then we'll leave...I already told you that when we leave is your call."

Right as Levi opened his mouth to respond, the door to the house opened revealing Uri with a light smile settled on his lips, "It's so nice to see you all. Please come in, you can take your shoes off at the door and then we can go to the dining room. You made it just in time for dinner." He looked the same as always with his calm smile and sandy hair draping his face. Though Erwin found himself wondering if he had gotten any smaller since the last time they had been over. While Uri was short, more so than Levi, he seemed frailer than usual which Erwin made a mental note not to ask about...if that was the case he figured Kenny wouldn't even want to approach the topic. Regardless, the man still looked happy to have them over and for a moment it was refreshing enough to make Erwin's nerves calm down.

Once Uri stepped aside, Erwin entered the house and bent down to set Armin on his feet, "Mikasa, sweetheart, why don't you hold his hand while Levi takes your shoes off, please?" The girl looked up at him before offering a nod and leaning over to grab Armin's small hand in her own. In the meantime, he busied himself with removing Armin's shoes and neatly setting them aside before taking his own off, standing soon after and offering a smile to Uri.

"Thank you for inviting us over," Erwin took a moment to look around for Kenny but figured he was in the dining room or kitchen, "Where's Historia at?"

As if on cue, he heard the sound of feet hurrying against the hardwood floor and it was only seconds later that a mess of blonde pigtails and pink was launching towards his legs. The feeling of small arms wrapping around his legs made a wide smile form on his lips, "Erwin! You really came!" Historia grinned up at him with a snaggle toothed smile and a flushed face, probably from her running.

"I did!" he chuckled before reaching his arms down to pry her off his legs and instead pick her up, "I feel so honored that Princess Historia missed me so much."

A proud smile formed on her lips at the title attached to her name and she nodded, "A princess always misses her knights! You and Levi never come to play with me anymore...."
