Once when I was eight I remember coming home from a friends one night to my parents arguing about some mark guy and my mom saying she was pregnant with his kid and leaving us, but little did I know that would be the last time I ever saw her.
8 Years later
"Sage get up" I hear as I feel someone softly shaking me awake. "whattt" I groan sleepily. "You have to get up we have to get to the school baseball tryouts are starting today so come to the field after school" Dad says as he walks out of my room. After a couple minutes of laying down I decide to get up brush my teeth and get dressed, today I decided to go with some simple black Nike leggings a white shirt with a brown jacket zipped up and my brown Jordan 1 mids with white Nike socks. I decided to post on my insta before heading downstairs.

I walk downstairs to see my dad with a smile on his face "Hey dad" I say earning a hey back along with a plate of breakfast which I declined not in the mood for food which wasn't unusual so my dad wasn't surprised and just took the food and put it in the fridge for my little brother to warm up before he goes to the bus. I watch as dad grabs his keys and walks out the door soon following behind him with my backpack and phone in my hand. As we arrived at the school I felt my phone buzz in my hand.

Sage🌿 I'm coming.
Lexi and Ansley have been my bestfriends since 6th grade I had just moved schools and it was lunch and Ansley had come up to me and asked me if I had wanted to sit at her table with her friend Lexi so I said yes and we've been almost inseparable ever since.
As soon as Lexi sees me and Ansley she asks us if we have seen the new guy yet "no?" I reply confused while Ansley says the opposite "yes". "What new guy?" I ask "He has brown hair, is tall, and sorta muscular" Ansley says. Before I got the chance to reply the bell rings signaling we need to get to class. "Bye sage" they both say "Bye guys"I say walking off to first period.
I walked in the class saying hi to my English teacher and taking a seat in the very back corner. As everyone finished getting seated and the second bell rang the lesson started but was interrupted by a tall dark haired boy asking if this was English. "Yes, who are you?" Mr. Williams questions "Greyson Cruz I'm new " he answers "Your late but I let it slide this time go take a seat next to Miss sage in the back there" Mr. Williams says making me wake up from my mini nap. "Hey, my names Greyson I'm new" Greyson says nicely "Hi, I'm Sage" I say giving him a small smile "Do you know when baseball starts by any chance?" He asks "Yeah it starts today after school" I say "Oh, well I hope I make the team at my last school I've been on varsity since freshman year" he says proudly "Good luck" I reply as I get back to listening to the lesson.
The rest of the day went by fast thanks to Lexi and Ansley entertaining me in the classes we have together including lunch. Before going down to the field I say bye to Ansley and Lexi and text my dad

I sit on the bleaches as I hear some players saying how hot I was and that they wish they could date me and some are attractive don't get my wrong but my dad made a rule that no one on the team is aloud to date me. One time when last year when I was a sophomore a player tried to ask me on a date and my dad made him run four practices the whole time. I glance around and see some familiar faces on the team including my older brother Nolan and a few of his friends he's a senior and I'm a junior so we get along most of the time. I hear someone come rushing to get on the field and notice it's Greyson so I said "hey" which got a short "hey, I'll talk to you after tryouts today" causing me to laugh as he runs on the field with his baseball bag. Not long after my dad had them huddle for a talk I hear my name get called down causing me to look up and see it's from my dad waving me to come to the field. "Yes?" I ask as he says "Everyone this is my daughter sage she's a junior she will be helping my with practices and she is off limits so don't even try" making me force a slight smile while elbowing him in his side. "My dads right my sister is off limits so" Nolan says earning yeahs from his friends that are like my extra brothers. My dad has them start warming up as he asked me to fill the water up. When I come down from filling the water up I spot Greyson out of the corner of my eye and he is actually really good.

I congratulated everyone that made varsity and sent everyone else who didn't to the jv coaches for them to choose their team. I stopped at Greyson and asked for his number which he gave it to me and told him bye and heading with my dad and brother home.
