Suspicion

It's been 2 weeks since your run-in with Majima at the bar. Since then, you haven't noticed anything strange or out of the ordinary.

Except for now.

You were shopping at the small stores that were scattered on the sidewalks of the busy streets during the daytime. Some had clothes, food, toys, souvenirs, anything for the locals or tourists.

You've been feeling watched for the past few minutes. Did they really think you were this dumb? To wait a few weeks after an encounter then start immediately, thinking you would have forgotten?

"Amateurs." You muttered under your breath.

You stood back and turned, bumping into something. You stumbled back and gained your footing.

"I'm so sor-" looking up, your words got caught in your throat as you saw a friend of yours, a tall man in a white suit and a red undershirt.

"(Y/n)? Is that you?" Your friend looked at you with a mix of emotions, but mostly confusion.

"Kiryu, it's me! Listen, it's a lot to explain. Tojo hasn't been so kind to me right now." Your excited facial expression contorted to one of sadness.

"I thought you were dead! I-"

"Shh! Shh! Can you not draw attention to us? I'm supposed to be dead for a reason." You waved your hands infront of his face.

"I know you're probably busy but do you have time to spare? Life's too crazy at the moment to just put things on hold and meet up later." Your fingers fiddled with the hem of your shirt.

"Yeah, I have time. I know a place we can go."

"Serena?" Your smile matched Kiryu's. Within seconds, you two walked to the small bar.

The bell at the door sounded a gentle ring, you and Kiryu walking inside. The dimly lit empty room brought a sour expression to your friends face, you could tell the difference between that and his normal resting bitch face.

"I know. I've been updated. Things happen, ya know?" You pat the taller man's shoulder and he gave a hum in response.

Sitting down, you leaned back into the chair and let out a comfortable sigh, Kiryu placing himself next to you.

"Ah, where should I start?" You looked at the cieling sheepishly.

"Well, I was bored. I didn't join the Dojima family because I didn't want to cause you trouble. The Shimano family seemed lively so I joined. It wasn't easy, they thought seeing a woman join the Yakuza willingly was the funniest shit ever, so I took matters into my own hands. I guess Shimano liked that and he tried to make me his little princess, it was kinda weird though. The luxury got boring and it just so happened he was killed. I knew his guys would try and drag me down since I had so much privilege so I faked my death and left."

Kiryu watched you speak, his face looked a little disappointed.

"I gotta say though, it's crazy how I did little to nothing and these men want me dead. Majima is still well too, we had an encounter at a bar two weeks ago and I managed to weasel by that." You chuckled.

"You wouldn't have caused any trouble. If you at least joined my family, you could have had someone to take your side. Shimano's family is full of a bunch of backstabbing horn dogs. But word about you gets around fast." Kiryu protested while lighting a cigarette, he held the pack to you, but you politely declined.

"Yeah, I know. But in the end, it's all the same. Dojima family isn't that much different from what I've heard. But... What did they say about me?" You sighed, running your hands through your locks in a panicked manner.

"Well, you were a damn strong woman if they've ever seen one. You were beautiful and you used that to your advantage. Others say you were Shimano's cock sleeve, or you had a threesome with Shimano and Majima, and-"

"Okay, stop. No more. That's disgusting." You covered your mouth in a dramatic manner and looked away.

"Sorry." Kiryu muttered, but you let out a small laugh.

"They hate to see me win." You lifted your chin up high in victory as you spoke, eating a snack you bought from a store.

After what felt like years, Kiryu glanced at his watch and mushed his cigarette in the bronze ashtray placed before him.

"We should get going. It's starting to get a little late." Kiryu stood up and made his way to the door, the sunsets soft orange hue bleeding into the room when he opened the door.

You threw away your snack and grabbed your purse, following behind him.

The walk down the busy street was peaceful, no need for conversation. It wasn't long until you had that same feeling from before, you were being watched.

"KIRYU-CHAN!!!"

You both stopped in confusion, but judging the look on your friends face, it was more annoyance.

You turned around with Kiryu, he sighed in annoyance, while you were processing the shock.

Goro Majima himself, not cold or serious, but crazy and loud? You've heard of his antics, but seeing it in person was a new feeling.

"What do you want? I'm busy." Kiryu groaned.

"What? Can't have a friendly brawl witha pal? Who's yer lady friend? You didn't tell me ya got a girlfriend, Kiryu-chan!" Majima cackled, his shoulders jumped up and down as his body gasped for air with each laugh.

"What?!" You and Kiryu both spoke, exchanging looks.

"You know him, Kiryu?" Your eyes frantically switched between the two men.

"Yeah, he's helped me in a pinch a few times."

"I remember ya from the bar! Good god, you looked like ya didn't want anything to do with me! It was enough to break a man's heart." Majima feigned offense, hand gripping at his non-existent shirt.

"Majima-san, this is my childhood friend-"

"Manami." You spoke over Kiryu with a fake name, ending the potential conversation.

"Kiryu, it's getting dark so I'll be on my way home. It was nice catching up." You looked at your friend and smiled.

"Will you be ok going alone?"

"I think we both know I'm more than capable." You winked, noticing Kiryu's one eyed acquaintance staring at you a little too hard in the corner of your eye.

"Until next time." You waved and walked away, hearing Majima babble about some fight that's long overdue with your friend.

You were suspicious, so you opted to go through a few alleyways to get home and shake off anyone that may be on your trail. Majima was a wild card, one that was all too attractive. What were you saying?
