"Hello America" my sister Areli said as we stepped out of the airport.
She breathed in–rather dramatically–and said "Smell that, that's fresh American air."

I scoffed at her words. "Fresh, really? It literally smells like fumes"

She just smiled at me like she knew something I didn't. Weird. "Oh dear sister, you don't get it. This is a new start. New air, new people, new-"

"Problems?"

She glared at me, well tried, and to be honest I almost laughed at how silly she looked. She was wearing a sports bra, a zip up hoodie and some Phineas and Ferb pyjama pants.

I said she looked weird when we were getting ready for the flight but she just replied saying "I'm gonna be on a plane for eight hours in a little cramped up seat with barely any leg space. Why on earth would I wear something nice and go full glam if my outfits gonna be ruined by the time we get off? Besides, I'd rather be comfortable and look weird than be uncomfortable."

I mean, she had a point but her trying to look intimidating in those clothes is like Ryan Reynolds being unfunny. Its never gonna happen.

"Actually, I was gonna say places but thank you for that helpful suggestion", she said, sarcasm laced in her voice.

I just ignored her as we walked towards the front where our idiotic brother Adrian was supposed to be waiting for us but just then I got a text from him.

The mistake: hey I'm running late

Me: yeah, no shit
Me: you were supposed to be here thirty minutes ago.

The mistake :🤷🏾‍♂️

"God this guys taking the piss", I muttered to no one in particular.

"Let me guess, he's not here and probably won't be for the next hour.", Areli said with a disappointed look on her face.

I couldn't bring myself to tell her but whatever she saw on my face already gave her the answer."You'd think after not seeing us for three years him and dad would be the first to arrive but I guess not", she stated with a sigh. And I honestly agreed with her but of course my dad would be too busy 'working' and my brother is probably at training or some shit instead of them being here and seeing their family after years. I'm not taking it too deep but I know that Areli is sad and for good reason as well. The look on her face just kills me though.

I'm gonna kill them. After everything she's been through this past year it was like she wasn't even living properly but when I told her that were going to live with Dad and Adrian, she was the happiest I've seen her since....everything happened. And I get why. I mean I dont exactly get it but I can understand why she would want a new start after such a traumatic experience. One that no one should ever have to experience and especially not someone as young as she is.

I quickly changed the subject before she got even more miserable. "Hey I saw a McDonald's in the airport store place. Wanna go?", I asked Areli making her face light up. You can always win her over with food, and to be honest, the same applies to me.

"Do I wanna go McDonald's? That's like asking me is spring the best season ever. The answers always yes."

I rolled my eyes as we started walking towards the direction of McDonald's.
"Everyone knows autumn is the best season."
