Choi Beomgyu was perplexed.

The newest addition to their team was so beautiful. Her big eyes, plump lips, long hair and smooth skin made him thought she was an upcoming idol or a trainee under HYBE instead of a staff member. She was taller than most Chinese women too -- He could tell she was at least over 165 centimetres.

Though somehow, Beomgyu was puzzled. He had only met Jian for the first time earlier that day, but it seemed to him that he had found her face oddly familiar, like he had seen her face a few times in the past, whether it be in person or in a television commercial.

Where? He could not think of an answer.

She definitely was not a BIGHIT trainee alongside him, nor was she the daughter of a close family friend.

Suddenly, he remembered.

Daegu. The city where he was born and raised.

Was she a former classmate of his?

Beomgyu had so many things to remember after his debut -- song lyrics, choreography, phrases in English and Japanese to connect with international MOAs, etiquette when interacting with seniors in music shows, where things were at HYBE's new building...  There was no way he could remember who was and who wasn't in his primary school and middle school except for a few close friends he had kept in touch with when he had moved to Seoul as a BIGHIT trainee.

Of course, Jian wouldn't have attended his English Academy because she grew up in the United States, nor would she be a student at Hanlim Multi-Arts School.

Wait...

If she was born and raised in the US, living there until after her university graduation, why would she attend his primary school in Daegu? Or

He sighed. Now, he was back to square one.

Nevertheless, Choi Beomgyu was a determined and curious person. He was sure he could eventually find Jian's backstory.

The first thing he needed though, was Jian's photos.

Beomgyu made his way towards Jian the next day at lunch, in HYBE's staff cafeteria. He had a proposal to make.

"Beomgyu-ssi. Nice to meet you again." Jian voiced, not believing her luck. Whether the almighty God had blessed her the past two days, or she had done so much good towards others, Jian was certain seeing a member of TOMORROW X TOGETHER in person for two consecutive days was no ordinary thing. Above all, there were many K-pop groups under HYBE, and so many artists for her to count in a few minutes -- SEVENTEEN already had an astonishing number of thirteen members, let alone other groups.

"Can you do me a favour, Jian-ssi?" He asked.

"Yes?"

Beomgyu breathed in before saying, "teach me English, and in return, I'll teach you dance."

Jian did not have to think twice. She held out her hand in reply. "Deal."

He grinned. "Then we should start thinking of a time and place."

"I can always help you during my breaks. When are you free next week? An idol has a busy schedule, especially since TXT's comeback is just around the corner, so I should be the one adjusting."

He thought for a while before answering, "On Tuesday and Friday afternoon. I'll book a room for the class, but I'll need a way to contact you so that you'll know where."

"Sure. What if I give you my email address? I still don't have a KakaoTalk account though I've been in Korea for a few months now."

Beomgyu was a little disappointed for some reason. He had expected a phone number or a social media account, but he was stuck with an email address. Who even uses email nowadays except for formal business work? It's the year 2022 already!  He asked his brain.

Still, he took out his phone, unlocked it and opened his notes app. He started a blank note. "Write your email here, and I'll make sure to send you details as soon as I can book a room."

Jian quickly typed her personal email address. "There. See you next Tuesday, Beomgyu-ssi!"

"Thanks." Was all Beomgyu could muster before saying 'goodbye' and walk back to his seat in the cafeteria. Yeonjun and Soobin had enough of their 'couple time', and his lunch was starting to get cold.

He could not wait to finally communicate with Jian -- it was the first part in his masterplan.

Jian checked her mailbox immediately upon reaching her apartment, looking for a particular email.

And there, she saw it. Clicking on it, she started to read.

Hello.

I'd like to inform you that I have made the booking. We will meet at Room XX next Tuesday at 12:30 in the afternoon.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Have a nice day.

Choi Beomgyu du-rim

Giddily, Jian immediately typed a reply.

Re : Lesson

Thank you so much! See you there!

"What are you doing, Jian-unnie? All smiling while typing something on your phone? I think that's sus!" Exclaimed Nari.

Eunjeong smirked whist preparing dinner -- Bulgogi and fried rice. "Does our Jian have a boyfriend?"

Jian could only gush in reply. "Choi Beomgyu of TOMORROW X TOGETHER has offered to teach me dance!"

"A HYBE idol out of all people? What are you going to learn?" Squealed Nari excitedly.

Eunjeong gasped. "I never knew HYBE staff have such good welfare -- learning dances from the entertainers themselves. Same as what Nari asked. What dance?"

"Well, he said I could choose what I wanted to learn. I have been thinking about this ever since work ended today, but there are so many excellent choreographies I want to learn! I just can't pick one easily!" Jian responded.

Nari giggled. "As expected of Jian-unnie, the TUBATU-lover. Well, in my opinion, idols shine best doing their own choreographies because it belongs to them. They're dancing to their own song. They've practiced them for so long and know all the small details, common mistakes in the routine and of course, how to explain the moves to other people. Perhaps, if all three of us are not busy, we can watch all TXT's dance practices together after dinner?"

"Why not?" Chorused the other two.
