We are under attack

Right now we were sitting on the grass smelling the fresh air. We were far from the city, which is great because we probably won't be found by the so-called new enemies. I was sitting between Malcolm and Alexander. We ate a couple of fruits that we picked up at the store before we left town. I noticed that Alexander was looking at the guns that were on our backs.

''Do you want to teach him how to operate a rifle? Maybe it's not the best time, but I doubt that only you and I can protect all the ape,'' I said to Malcolm.

"Yes, it would be a good idea. Come on son,'' Malcolm said and they started a little further away from us so as not to scare the apes.

"Don't be loud so they don't notice us," I shouted and Malcolm gave a thumbs up in understanding.

After a few shots, some apes got used to the sound of the gun. When Malcolm was done with the training we moved on. Not long after we started I could smell something, some smell. Malcolm was also acting strangely so I figured he noticed it too. I turned around until I noticed some smoke in the grass. When me and Malcolm realized what it was we were scared for the apes.

 "Run away quickly!" I shouted, drawing attention to myself and everyone looked at me.

Caesar signaled them to run, which they did. After a few seconds while we were running, the bomb exploded and we jumped to the floor. We hid under the grass near each other. I could see that the blue eyes were terrified. We put masks on our faces and went into action.

"Caesar, go back a little while we distract them," I said and he looked at me uncertainly.

"We'll be fine, don't worry," I added, caressing his cheek.

He nodded and started back towards the others.

Me and Malcolm hid behind two trees that were nearby.

"There are about ten of them!" I shouted as I peeked out from the side.

"I'll knock five down and you five too!" He shouted back and I nodded.

Although I had never operated a rifle, now was the time to learn. I moved away from the wood and aimed at one man. Although there was a great noise of bullets that scared me, I managed to shoot one man. Then I shot the other two and hid under the bushes. Just two more, come on Will. The other two started looking for me while I was hiding. After one passed the bush where I was hiding, I slowly got out of it. I ran towards him and jumped on him. We both fell to the floor with me on top. I hit him in the face with my fist and his nose started to bleed. Then he somehow managed to knock me off him and sit down. Just as I was about to get up, he sat on top of me. He took out a knife and wanted to stab me, but I grabbed his hand with both of my hands. He was persistent and wanted to stab me. My strength was slowly waning so I removed my hands from his. He took the knife with both hands and wanted to stab me directly in the chest but failed. I opened my eyes to see a bullet through his heart. He fell off me and I turned back to see Caesar holding the rifle. Caesar came to me and hugged me.

"Are.....you....okay?" He asked me worriedly.

"Yes, thank you!" I said hugging him.

Then Malcolm came to us. He and Caesar picked me up and we started running back. When we arrived, we sat down on some stones and rested for a few minutes.

"I knew someone was following us!" Malcolm said angrily and sadly.

"I shouldn't have worked with that jerk in the first place!" He added.

"It's not your fault. At least we escaped them,'' I said, trying to cheer him up.

"Yes dad, listen to him, he's right. We're still safe,'' said Sarah, sitting next to him.

''We should go now. If you want we can talk on the way,'' I said and Malcolm nodded.

We headed home knowing that something terrible was happening, a war.
