mei woke up to the sound of
her alarm clock, warning
her to get ready for work.

turning off her alarm, she got up
and got ready.

finishing the final look for work,
she checks her phone for any
missed messages

hello mei! it's me, jie!
how are you? :)

mei gasped realizing that jie
probably waited all night for her
response

mei
hey jie! sorry for the late
response, i fell asleep.
i'll be coming by for a coffee
for work, see you then! :)

mei stuffed her phone in her bag,
took her keys and left.

pulling into the drive way of ivory cafe,
mei could see the snow trickling
down from the sky

and through the cafe windows,
jie was seen at the counter,
waiting for a customer

mei hurriedly went inside and
walked up to jie

"hey mei! i see you text me"
jie greeted the other, mei smiled
and nodded

"can i get the same order?
but no cake this time"
mei blushed a little, handing
jie the cash. she already knew the
price

"of course, beautiful"
jie winked and went to the
back to get her coffee

mei nodded again and watched
the other go to the back.

mei waited a while, however;
while waiting she noticed someone
eyeing her then walking up

"hi, you must me jie's
friend, correct?"
the male approached with
a bitter smile

the fake smile maked mei cringe,
it was so obvious he didn't
want her around

"uh, yea! we met not
too long ago. are you two
close?"
mei smiled back

he just nodded and kept staring,
it made mei uncomfortable. she wanted
jie to come back fast.

"is there something
you need to tell me..?"
mei stood her ground, trying
not to seem intimidated

"she's mine. stay away
from her, mei. understand?"
he muttered, glaring at mei.

mei rolled her eyes and saw jie
coming back with her coffee.

"hey! yuanjun! leave
her alone"
jie shouted, yuanjun back off
and went into the break room.

"sorry about him. he's been so
obsessed with me ever since
i started working here.."
jie was embarrassed that
yuanjun said such things,
it wasnt right of him

"it's alright. he didn't bother me
too much. i wish i knew
you had a boyfriend"
mei chuckled, throwing everything
else to the side. there was no
point of holding on to it

"boyfriend? you've got it wrong!
i'm single, yuanjun and i
arent a couple and never
will be. i dont even like men"
jie laughed, she found the thought
of yuanjun being her lover as a funny
joke, it would never happen

"why are you so worried
about me having a lover, mei?
are you interested in me
already?"
jie handed mei her coffee, their hands
brushing against each others.

mei noticed the sudden contact and
flirting, her cheeks grew to a
crimson red.

"i never said that, i just
wanted to be more aware,
thats all.."
mei mumbled lowly, but loud
enough for the other to hear.

"you're so cute, mei!
i'm only teasing you, but
after your work later, let's go
out! i want to get to know you"
jie smiled sweetly while also
giving mei a napkin.

mei took it, agreed, and left.
jie watched mei's car drive
off into the snowy streets of China

jie giggled, and went into the
break room to confront yuanjun.

she was a little hesitant because
chen wasn't here to back her up

she opened the door to find
yuanjun scrolling through
her phone

"yuanjun, don't EVER speak
to mei in any manor again.
dont greet her, dont ask for
favors, don't threaten her, dont
do anything. if you say another
word with her, i'll be sure to
get you fired, understood."
jie mumbled under breath.

jie tried to control her anger,
she had anger issues and
yuanjun made it boil
everyday

"what was that, babe?
you know i cant understand
you when you speak like that"
yuanjun spoke smoothly, standing up
and walked over to jie, putting his left hand
on her chin.

"baby, can you say it again?
clearly this time"
yuanjun put his right hand on
jie's waist.

the more he touched her, the more he spoke,
it set fire through jie's veins.

jie roughly pushed yuanjun off
and punched him in the jaw.

"i said, dont ever try to
speak with mei again.
i know your intentions and i
dont want you around her.
you and i will never be together.
i like WOMEN, yuanjun, not men.
try anything again and i wont
hesitate to get Li-Mei's father involved"
jie yelled before walking out the room.

yuanjun made her angry, she never
like to fight, but she felt like she
had to,  for mei's sake.

jie sighed, happy to release some
anger.

"why were you yellin, jiji?"

"li-mei?"
