Vee got in her apartment, switched on the lights and went to her room to have a bath, she was exhausted. She wanted to have a bath and then sleep.

She had just taken off her clothes when her phone started ringing, she looked at the caller. It wasn't saved to her phone but the number was very familiar. Malcolm.

She was in a daze, why is he calling by this time? She was too surprised that she ended up not picking at all as the call ended. She sigh in relief knowing he would not call again. Then she tensed one more time, if he wouldn't call, wouldn't that be my cue to return his call. As she thought of this, her phone rang again.

She was so startled and picked up the phone with shaky hands. "H-Hello" she stuttered.

'Hey' a subtle voice came from over the phone, it was so relaxed that it made her even more suspicious.

". . . . ." She was speechless as she remained silent.

'So, I heard you were back' he said still relaxed. 'How come I wasn't informed?' He asked, patiently waiting for her reply.

"I figured you'd find out eventually" she replied after recovering from the shock.

The line was silent again, the other person was quiet for a while before letting out a laugh, 'still as funny as ever' he said.

Vee was so confused and couldn't get why he suddenly made this call to torture her.

'I want to see you' she heard Malcolm say.

She began "I don't want to..."

'I'll come pick you up tomorrow by 11 am' he said, then finally hung up.

Vee breathed a sigh of relief. She smiled and then went to the bathroom, she seemed to remember something else as she lurched straight at her phone, grabbed it and called Perry.

'Hel...' Perry picked up and started to say when he was caught off.

"Are you busy tomorrow?" Vee asked, without hiding her nervousness, praying fervently in her heart that he'll say 'no'.

'Yes, I am' he said, 'I'm going to HC headquarters to signed a partnership agreement with them. What's wrong?'

"When are you leaving?" She didn't answer his question and directly asked him another question.

'9 am, so I really need to get some sleep.' He said as he yawned.

"I need your help, it's a life or death situation" she said, obviously worried.

'What's up?' Perry didn't think much of it since she has used 'life or death situation' on him countless times.

"Malcolm called, he'd come over tomorrow to pick me up," she said. "I'm coming over tonight" she said.

'It's fine, I'll come pick you up,' Perry sighed.

"Don't worry about it, I'd be on my way soon, get some rest. I love you." she hurriedly said.

"Alright then, I love you too." She heard him say and hung up.

After leaving the park Malcolm went straight to Philip's house to drop him off.

"Will you be fine on your own tonight?" Philip asked in uncertainty as he removed his seat belt.

"Aren't I always on my own?" Malcolm asked him, he was back to his usual cold self.

Philip scratched his head, feeling he was overthinking things and got off the car.

New York was truly the city that never sleeps. It was dark but the night was still busy. He drove for a while and parked outside an apartment. The lights were turned on and there was a silhouette of a girl in one of the rooms taking off her clothes.

He stared for a while then picked up his phone and dialed a number.

He watched the her figure stare at the phone till the line disconnected and called again. He breathed a sigh of relief and tried to calm himself down before calling again, he had a faint smile on his lips when he heard the girl's voice.

After the call ended, he had a smile on his lips, he was about to leave when he saw the girl reach for her phone and call someone else. His expression darkened as he watched her paced the room worriedly.

It was quite obvious she may have called her savior. He waited in his car and looked at her to see if he would find any suspicious movements. As expected, she opened her wardrobe, brought out clothes and stuffed them in a bag before rushing off to the bathroom.

Malcolm waited in the car and in less than 30 minutes the girl was already outside with her bag, she looked at her phone desperately.

She waited for another 6 minutes before an Uber parked in front of her, she got in and it drove away.

Malcolm smiled, how cunning. He thought. He was enjoying all the games. He followed the Uber at a safe distance.
