(&Scott experiences something he's never experienced before)
Scott's Major. He is a man who has been through adventures, someone who has stories beyond stores to tell, has been around the world and back.
He's always been one to steal, certainly someone who doesn't truly obey the law. He's never cared about the dangers of being arrested, unafraid of the law, the most fearless and brave adventurer.
However, he's put down the hat and no longer works in the business of such ancient artifacts. It doesn't mean he's changed so much. He's still never felt guilt, never felt love, and never felt afraid. He's always enjoyed the rush adventuring gave him, where it brought him. Running from authorities, going behind peoples backs to steal precious, ancient, important heirlooms or artifacts. That's just how he is.
Now a simple man, living on a hill. He sells dyes to other empires, making alliances and friends along it. Rude people of course do come time to time, like the time the rule of Animalia dared calling him lonely. Scott didn't think of himself as lonely! He has friends and animals that care for him as much as he cares for them. He knew that she meant he was single though, not friendless.
Scott has never put his heart out to any man before. Of course, he's stolen a few heart since, what kind of an adventurer would he be? He's met people, kissed a few, yet never truly fallen in love. He's never been the type to put himself on display, to put his heart on a pedestal and allow someone to steal it. Love could get in the way of the work he had, it was not a very friendly field after all. People will do what they have to do to get something, and he is guilty of that.
Does he feel bad and regret it? No, of course not. He lived for the rush after all. The dangers that came within people. He loved to test peoples patience and see how far they could go without breaking or calling him an annoyance.
Ever since the campfire, he's felt strange though. Everyone was someone he didn't know. No run ins, no past, no nothing. He's learned names of course, but it didn't tell him exactly what kind of people these few were. Later on of course he learned about his fellow empires yet, he felt something new, a feeling he's never experienced..
Genuine fear.
He wasn't afraid of these people, afraid of their powers or ability's. He was in fear of the unknown, not knowing what types of people these were. They had to be relevant in a huge way since, they rule Empires. He never feared the future, never felt fear of the unknown until now. These were supposed to be people who he'd get along with, people he'd grow close to and share millions of stories and adventures with. People whom he co-
"Scott?"
Scott blinked, looking around. He was in a badlands, a man in a cowboy hat standing above him, looking down on him.
"You passed out, are you feeling okay? Do you want to rest in my bed?" The blonde above asked. Scott moved carefully up, the man backing up.
"What happened?" He asked slowly and in a small tone. The cowboy knelt down, closer to the face of the colourful man. He had a worried look on his face and pulled out a water, handing it to Scott. He accepted it, drinking it waiting for the response.
"Well- you were suddenly dropped down from the sky! You didn't die or anything but you- you fell? Your wings are fine but I was grabbing terracotta and all I see is you falling and in which I swiftly grabbed my water bucket and caught you on that fall!" The Cowboy hurried out his words. Scott's eyebrows knitted together as he got up and the cowboy stood up with him, holding his arm.
"You should probably lie down in my room, you were out for only a few minutes but- I don't think my cool awesome life saving water bucket skills really did much except save your hearts." He spoke quietly. Scott nodded, "Thank you, Jimmy." He spoke lowly, holding onto Jimmy, who was smiling. "Not a problem!"
They walked into the house, Jimmy leading Scott to his bed and helping him lie down. His bed was soft and comfortable, quite more comfortable than his own. He enjoyed the warm covers and the fluffy pillow.
"Thank you so much, Jimmy. I'm sorry, I think I might've fainted while flying.." He spoke out quickly, embarrassed with his midair faint. Jimmy gave him a small smile and took Scott's hand and rubbed it.
"No worries Scott. I'm sure if I accidentally fainted mid flight on your property you'd help me too!" He spoke happily yet quiet. "If you don't mind me asking, why did you faint?... Are you alright?" He asked, worried about him. Scott's eyebrows once against knitted together trying to remember.
"I know this might sound strange but-" "Before you continue!" Jimmy yelled, cutting Scott off. "Sorry- but, this is a judgement free zone and nothing is too strange from you! So whatever it is, no need to make it sound more justified because whatever the reason is.. I'm sure it's highly justifiable. And- And I'm the law and I'm justified- so it's even more justifiable coming from me!" He spoke the last part happily, smiling at Scott. Scott flushed a little, feeling a weight being lifted and the toys words actually helping.
"You're adorable." He muttered out, tightening the hold on Jimmy's hand. "Hm?" He asked in genuinely curious about what the cyan haired man said. "Nothing- but basically from what I can remember I was asked about my least favourite flower and I said poppy since.. it is my least favourite." He looked over at the cowboy, Jimmy waiting for Scott to continue.
He took a deep breath, remembering. "After that happened I saw a poppy and.. I stepped on it. I don't know why I hate poppy's, why they make me angry and.. upset.. but, I stepped on it and it felt like I was being stabbed." Jimmy could feel Scott get colder, like he was frozen, he was afraid. "Multiple times in different places.. Through my arm, neck, heart.. It felt awful. I didn't have any cuts from it but.. It felt as if I was actually being slashed." Scott looked away from Jimmy, holding tightly onto Jimmy's hand.
"I don't know why but I felt I had to fly, leave and go somewhere and I guess since all the motion and heavy breathing I passed out." Scott sighed, still looking away at a wall, unable to face Jimmy.
Jimmy sat there, still rubbing Scott's hand. He could sense Scott's uneasiness. "Can I touch you?" Jimmy asked quietly. Scott turned, facing Jimmy with a sad expression and nodded. He let go of Scott's hand and crawled closer towards him, leaning in and hugging him. Scott hugged back, enjoying the hug he was given. He was never so vulnerable in front of someone, especially someone of the law. He isn't one to cry as much but he felt safe in Jimmy's arms. Sniffling trying his best not to let it all out.
"It's okay, you can cry Scott." Jimmy whispered into his ear. It broke him, making him sob out quietly into Jimmy's shoulder, grabbing tight onto Jimmy. This feeling felt familiar, like he's done this before, like he's talked to Jimmy and he's listened, letting it all out and making him feel safe.
He rubbed Scott's back as he cried, not minding that his friend was crying, he's the sheriff, he has to be there for his alliances. He truly cares about Scott and Scott truly cares about Jimmy.
This was the first and last time Scott's heart was on a pedestal, guards down, and someone had truly stolen it.
Ironically, The Sheriff.
