For the rest of that period, I couldn't get Michaels smile out of my head. The way his lips curled and looked directly into my eyes made my heart beat faster, seeing those hazel eyes stare directly at me .

I was so caught up in my thoughts, I didn't even hear the bell ring for next class. Ashton chuckled, snapping his fingers in front of me. "Come on Luke, we need to get going!"

I nodded slowly, getting my things together and went to leave, I felt someone grab my arm and I noticed all the tattoos. Obviously meaning it was Michael. He laughed when he saw my eyes reach up to his, "Hey, Luke."

At first, I was excited that he even knew my name, but I knew he probably remember it from when my teacher said it. Plus, we had our names on our tests, and it would be easy to understand.

"H-Hi Michael." I cursed myself for stuttering, and rolled my eyes when Ashton left us alone, waiting at his locker, giving me a smirk.

Michael grabbed my arm, and I looked at him in confusion when he pulled out a pen. When he took the cap off, I noticed him writing his number out on my forearm. " Text me, so you can come over and we can work on the project."

"Aren't you embarrassed?" I asked curiously.

He chuckled, "Embarrassed about what?"

"Working with me," I explained, gesturing to my outfit and white flowercrown. Usually when people work with me, they keep it a secret or just ignore me completely, having me do all the work. I never really mind, it used to hurt me but now I just think they're jerks.

And then when Michael smiled, I knew he wasn't a jerk because he said, "Seriously? Look at me. I'm not one to judge, and I think you look cute, to be honest."

My face flushed red and he walked off, turning to say, "Don't forget to text me, and by the way, nice tattoo, it fits you."

I glanced down at the only tattoo I had. It says 'I can't Change.' As I smiled, I saw Ashton. He whistled, sending me a grin and wiggled his eyebrows, "Someone has a crush on you!"

"No, he's just being nice," I retorted, but Ashton rolled his eyes and scoffed at me. "I'm going to his house though, he invited me. And look!"

I held out my arm and he gave me a thumbs up.

However, Ashton said, "Lucas, I care about you.. And I'm not saying he's dangerous, but I just don't want you
to get hurt."

"Don't worry, I'll be fine. Mikey is amazing," I assured, but I knew Ash was protective of me because everyone else treats me like trash. They're not afraid of me, they're afraid of different.

" Alright. But I'm still a bit worried." He said, and I sighed, before we began our next class. Sometimes I wonder how why we are are friends... because no one else was ever there for me.

When school got out I met Ashton at the doors of the school, and sat on the railing, hesitating before adding Michael as a contact. I ended up doing it, but then I wasn't sure what to text him. An emoji was a bit desperate. Should I just say "hi?" Nah, that's awkward. I finally shrugged before texting him this. " Hi, it's Luke. (: "

A smiley face is fine, it's not flirty, so he won't think much of it. I hope. When I saw Ashton walking out, I rushed over to him, and he glanced at me, " Hey ready to get home and get prepared for your date?"

"It's not a date, Ash, we're just working on a project." I pouted as we got on the bus, sitting in our usual seat, placing our bags in our laps.

He placed a hand on my shoulder, giving me a fake sympathetic look, "Denial is expected, my friend. Don't worry, he flirted with you. I saw him give you a wink, and he looked all smug, when he made you blush."
