It had been weeks since Nicki had heard from Janet, and she always tried to call her, but she never answered. She was worried about her, and wanted to know if she was alright.
"Anything Nic?" asked Sherika.
"No...she hasn't answered me in 2 weeks, I'm worried about her,"
"I hope that asshole didn't hurt her,"
"Same...I'm heading over there on my lunch break to check on her," she said.
"Mind if I tag along," Nicki nodded, and they both continued with their work. The clock struck 12:30, and the girls made their way to Nicki's Ferari, and drove over to Janet's. Anxiety was high in Nicki as she knocked cautiously on the door. No answer.
"Do you think she's even home?" Sherika asked as she peered through the window."
"No, her car is still here," she said pointing at the white rang rover.
"Maybe they both went out to lunch," Nicki shook her head... Her hair was pinned up in a nice bun, so she decided to let her hair down, and use it to pick the lock. She jimmed it until she heard the click, and the door silently opened. Nicki walked in, with Sherika behind her, and they continued on looking over the large living room. There was silence in the entire house. The only noise was the ticking of the clock. Nothing stirred nor moved in the house, and all was quiet.
"I feel like were breaking in...this is wrong," said Sherika, as she looked at the vase of fake lillies on a white piano. Nicki didn't answer, she only looked around the kitchen, and living room for Janet.
"Janet? It's me Nicki. Are you here?" She called out...she waited for a sound, but nothing.
"Jan. You don't have to be afraid. Sherika and I are here to help you. Say something please," she begged, wanting so badly to hear her sweet voice again. Her tears began to fall a little as she heard nothing.
"Don't cry Nic," Sherika said, hugging her.
"H-help," Nicki looked up and smiled inside.
"Janet? I'm here. Where are you?" She asked.
"U-upstairs...in our bedroom," she said. Nicki and her friend went up the stairs, and went to the right, going into the red and black themed bedroom. The large king-sized bed had red sheets and...stains...that from last night, and many nights before.
"Oh my God," said Sherika, looking at the blood-stained carpet near the bed and bathroom door.
"Janet?"
"I-I'm in the closet...the one next to the mirror," she mumbled faintly. Nicki turned and saw the large mirror, with wooden door next to it. It was small, and painted black to go with the color theme. It was about 4"3', small and shaped like a square.
"Is it locked?"
"Yes...I've been in here since last night," she whimpered. Nicki looked over the door, and saw she only had to turn the lock above the door handle. She did, and opened the door to horror. She gasped, and looked at a malnourished Janet, sitting in a fetal position, with dried blood on her forehead, and nose, she was very thin, and bruised from the legs up. Nicki stared a while. In shock and horror, then went into the small room to help her.
"Is it bad?" she asked quietly as Nicki came closer to her. Her right arm was blue and black, she picked it up, and Janet yelped in pain.
"Sorry...I think it might be broken Jan," she looked into her eyes and saw the fear yet again in them. The pain and the tiredness.
"How long has this been going on?"
"Since last week," she said. Sherika stood there and felt sympathy for her.
