For days the Kingdom mourned.

Lives were saved but a lot of warriors were injured in the battle. Ibezim returned from his travels to find more than he had expected. His compound was suddenly filled with the injured and weak who needed urgent treatment. With the assistance from the royal healers as well as some volunteers they were all able to care for them.

Brave warriors were lost in the fight, sons to parents and brothers to sisters. Families mourned the loss of their dear ones who they will never get to see. A great burial was held for the dead to commemorate the great lives lost. Their names will forever be etched in the annals of history as the greatest warriors of their time.

No one mourned the loss of Anene. The actions of the Prince affected the King and Queen greatly. Despite the fact that his son turned out to be evil, he was still his flesh and blood so he mourned him silently. The Queen on the other fell into an unconscious state unable to bear the shame and loss.

His dead body was found on the battlefield, decayed beyond recognition. He did not disappear like the rest of the Mystics had since he was still partly human. Instead, he was granted a fate worse than death by the gods. Agada ordered his body be thrown into the Forest of the Wild for the wild beast to feed on his corpse.

The news of Agada being a Seer spread like wildfire. Isimir had not had a Seer in years and he was the first. It was the first piece of news that put a smile on the people's face after the recent loss. Amuobi and Ibe welcomed the news more favourably than most, glad for the blessings bestowed on their friend.

A while passed as people slowly started to move on. For some it was a start of new beginnings.

Aniweta who was once a disgraced and banished warrior had now regained his honour and reputation back. Not only did he gain the gratitude and respect from the people but also the title as Custodian of the Horn since he was the bearer. He was surprised to find that his earring was something of much value. Even more surprising was the fact that his Master was an ex-commander. Master Orji did not fail to show off his disciple at every chance he got. The old man even claimed him as his son.

For others it was exploring something new.

Iweobi fortunately survived the attack but had  been recuperating quietly with the help of Mma. His recent brush with death made him more appreciative of life which led to him taking a chance of his own. He finally admitted his feelings to Mma and expressed his desire to court her properly. As luck would have it Mma also felt the same way about him and they agreed to take their relationship slow.

Agada continued his work as a Seer living a fulfilled life with the goal of using his power for saving people.

Isimir was now left without a heir but the Elders in Council and the King have other plans for who would fill that position. His faithful Hand, Iweobi.

The gods of Isimir smiled down at them as they witnessed the dawn of a new era unfold.

Indeed the ways of the gods are not the ways of men.

The End.
