Part 7 - Memory

Milo played this scene again over and over again in his head after it happened. They were laying down on the roof of the Stars Reach tower, staring at the stars. He had just explained the significance of his rings. How all nine of them on his hands were for his family and two closest friends. How each ring represented one person. How they were gold to show untarnishing favor towards them. How the one he wore around his neck was to mark the person - his older sister, Norah, had died of sickness. How he wasn't to wear anything on his fourth finger until he was married.

He remembered Corym sitting up and struggling to remove a ring from his finger. It was a dull silver, with a tiny five-pointed Morningstar Lilly carved into it, a symbol of the Bloom family. He remembered Corym slipping it onto his ring finger. "I'm not proposing just yet. It just fits best there. Just hold onto it while I'm gone, that way I have to come back, to give it to you properly."

He remembered how warm his face felt.

He remembered holding onto Corym until the sunrise and him leaving to return to his mother's house without another word.

And Reyna helping him during a panic attack.

And drinking with Micheal while playing board games with made up rules.

And his mother's explanation of his tattoo design.

All fond memories.

He hoped he would never forget.

Corym remembered being confused for a class. A professor telling him to read a chapter of a book that seemed completely out of place, and figure out what it's intention was. He remembered reading it two, three four times before going to Milo's room. Sitting down on the couch and asking if he could read it out loud for some insight. He remembered his nod and how easily Milo laid on the couch, nestling his head in Coryms lap, listening to him read, until he fell asleep, relaxed.

He remembered his mother teaching him the importance of wishing on Morningstar Lillies. How their family adopted them as a symbol of persistence.

He remembered every little thing so easily.

He hoped he would never forget.
