Crossing Paths

I was walking through my beautiful rose garden. It wasn't easy being a princess and all, having to act so proper all the time. While I do think it's important to stay in order and follow the rules, I just wanna jam out and have fun sometimes you know? Even then, peaceful moments like this were always such a pleasure, especially how all the roses compliment my gown. 

Everything looked magnificent, our gardeners really do a good job around here! I believe the head gardener's name was Honami Mochizuki? Yeah! That seems right! I'll have to keep a mental note to tell her how beautiful everything looks.

Honestly, I would love to get down in the dirt sometime! Unfortunately, my personal maid Shizuku won't allow me to participate in such acts. The most she's allowing me to do is growing some mint in a little pot on my balcony. I do still enjoy taking care of that little plant though, it makes me feel nice whenever I water it.

As I strolled around some more, I caught something out of the corner of my eye. It was just a rose bush, but something felt special about it. I could feel some strange aura coming from it, leading me closer and closer to investigate. The roses on this bush seemed to be practically sparkling. I carefully picked one and examined it.

It smelled absolutely beautiful, as if you took all the happiness from spring and put it into a little flower.

I didn't want this beautiful flower to go to waste, so I rushed inside to go request a vase for it.

I was almost there when suddenly...

"WA-?!" I bumped in to one of the gaurds.

"Heyy watch where you're go- OH PRINCESS I'M SO SORRY!!"

"WAH IT'S ALRIGHT!! UM..DO YOU HAPPEN TO SEE A ROSE?"

I started panicking, when I bumped into this person the rose grew wings and flew out of my hand. I got down on the ground and started looking for it.

"Oh! Uh! I'LL HELP YOU LOOK!"

The guard quickly got on the ground and started looking with me. You would think a bright sparkly rose would be easy to find!

"AHA! I GOT IT!!" The guard jumped up and held the rose high in the air.

I got up as well. "Thank you so much!!"

The guard had light pink hair and bright pink eyes, which perfectly matched our kingdom's uniform for guards. They looked aboslutely stunning.

"Hah..are you alright?" They were waving their hands in my face.

"OH! Yes! Uh..what's your name if you don't mind me asking?"

"I'm Mizuki Akiyama! I work as an assistant for the head of the royal guard."

"Ah! You must be quite familiar with Akito!"

"Yeah! Me and him are best buddies!"

Akito was the head of the royal guard. He was astounding at his job, despite him being so young. 

I would consider him a friend of mine!! When we were teenagers we were quite competitive and constantly had little sword battles when I slipped away from my royal duties. I tried my best to keep it a secret but Shizuku always caught me.

"I apologize for running into you Princess An! I was in a hurry to get somewhere!"

"No!! I'm sorry! I was so focused on getting a vase for this rose that I dropped.."

"No need to apologize!" 

Mizuki carefully cut off the rose thorns using a small pocket knife, and then walked up to me. They tucked the rose into my hair and then stepped back to admire me.

"You should totally have roses in your hair more often! It looks good!"

"OH!!? You think so?"

"Yep!"

I blushed a little. I usually wouldn't let someone I barely knew get so close to me, but something about Mizuki felt so comforting and fun.

"Well, it was nice chatting with you Princess! I have to go do guard stuff now!"

"Ah! It was a pleasure meeting you!"

Mizuki headed off and I continued my way to my bedroom.
