Alma

It was now Monday which meant I had to go into work today. I work at a hardware store and it's pretty boring honestly. Men in their forties come in asking for tool supplies or little sixteen year-old girls asking their daddy's what pink shade they want their room to be next.

The only reason why I even bother to show up is because of Stevey. I think she's my best friend, we do tell each other everything and we hang out a lot. I've cried on her shoulder vise versa. But we haven't really said out loud that we're best friends. It's that awkward stage when you're too scared to say it so you just ignore it.

"No sir, I have told you a million times! We do not own actual hoes here! The only hoes we have here are gardening hoes." Stevey exclaimed to the seventy-two year old man, Joey. He's always coming in here asking for hoes and he wants the actual thing. Poor guy.

Stevey glanced at me and rolled her eyes as Joey the old pimp walked out. "Alma, I'm gonna kill him! I swear I will!" She said shaking her head which caused her big curly hair to move as well.

"I know Stevey, but can you blame him? He's got no hoes left!" I said giggling. Stevey rolled her green eyes again and smiled at me.

"C'mon, Garrett wants us to check inventory again." She said sighing at the name of our supervisor. Garrett a pain in the behind.

"Well inventory isn't that bad! We might have fun. " I suggested.

"You're always finding the positivity out of everything Alma." Stevey said as we maneuvered our way to the back of the store. "Why can't you be normal and hate something for once. Find the negativity in things!" She said pumping her fist in the air.

I laughed at her gesture and grabbed a clipboard to check on inventory. "So guess what happened to me the other day." I said smiling at Stevey.

She was opening a box of hammers and responded, "What did you frolic in the park yesterday?"

"No! Stevey I don't always do that!" I teased at her. "I met this really cute boy."

She looked up at me and was shocked.

"You? Alma Saldañas? Met a boy?" She stopped what she was doing and sat on the other unopened boxes. "Spill." She smirked.

I told her about my meeting with Luke and how he noticed my blushing and how we basically starting a conversation over an app game.

"Mortal combat? That was what got you two talking?" She said laughing her ass off. I crossed my arms and prepared to defend myself.

"At least I had the balls to talk back to him okay!" I said trying to continue my work. Stevey got up as well and did the same.

"Are you gonna call him?" She said as she starting opening a new box of hammers.

"Uh, honestly I don't know. Maybe just text him or whatever. He said he didn't have many friends here. He's new here." I have never actually had the balls to "call" back to some guy who gave me their number. I always chicken out.

"Well there you go! You two can plan something. Maybe like a date?" She suggested. "C'mon Alma when was the last time you got laid?"

"Stevey!! Shut up!" I gasped. God why is she so blunt.

"What? It's true. Maybe you two could get it on." She wiggled her eyebrows.

"Why are we friends again?" I said rolling my eyes.

It was midnight and I was bored out of my mind. I was about to go home from work but I really didn't want to go home. I don't know why but sometimes I like to go park and sit under my favorite tree. I like to clear my head and relax for a few minutes. Besides right now I'm not that tired and I don't have work or school tomorrow since it's some random president's birthday tomorrow.
