We were almost at my work event and I could tell the closer we got the more anxious Riley became, I didn't truly put Riley's feelings into perspective beforehand and I really wish that I did because then we would never be in this boat
I should of never allowed the comments of my colleagues to taint how I feel towards her, I need to really show Riley now that I truly do just want her but I know that that'll take a while but I'm okay with that

We both let out a sigh as the taxi stops in front of this big white fancy building, I've been here before so I knew the layout and what to expect. This place was the usual place we held all of our events but sometimes depending on what it was we changed it up

I walk around the taxi to open the door for Riley grabbing her hand to help her out and after closing the taxi door planting a kiss on her cheek causing her to blush slightly
"It's me and you, always" I whisper to her
"Always" Riley whispers back before leaning up and pressing her red lips against mine

We already had a bunch of people staring and the photographer taking photos of us but I didn't pay any of them much attention before entering the building where of course we were met with even more stares and whispering. I could feel Riley tense up beside me causing me to gently squeeze her hand grabbing her attention, her big innocent eyes staring up at me with a hint of being scared coating them

I lean down and plant another kiss on her lips in hopes it would calm her down
"Just ignore them love, you look absolutely stunning" I softly say to her
"Are you sure?" Riley replies
"I'm not going to lie to you" I whisper back placing my hand aga ain't her cheek letting her gently press her cheek against the palm of my hand some more

So far tonight had gone extremely well, Riley was mingling amongst everyone here and no one has said anything to her or me, I mean tonight was going well until I spotted Alyssa looking furious
As soon as Riley was on her own I noticed that Alyssa made a bee line for her, I watch to see what's going on but it was clear that after a few minutes Riley was getting frustrated so I made my way over

"What's going on here?" I ask causing Alyssa to scoff
"Oh of course you just have to come over" Alyssa bluntly mutters
"Are you okay?" I ask Riley
"Well this conversation was going well until Alyssa decided to make snide comments about our relationship" Riley explains

"Right Alyssa what goes on in Riley and I's relationship has nothing to do with you so I'd appreciate it if you kept your nose out of it" I sternly say
"Yeah well maybe you should be loyal" Alyssa scoffs
"We never did anything so I was loyal" I snap back
"Not fully loyal though James and you know that" Alyssa says
"Ugh Alyssa seriously I'm done with this conversation, leave me and Riley alone" I say taking Riley's hand in mine before heading over to the drinks bar, I think we both need one now more then ever

"Thank you for sticking up for us" Riley softly says when we're finally alone
"Don't thank me I should of done that ages ago" I reply
"At least you're doing it now, that's what matters" Riley says
"Yeah that's true" I sigh "I'm so sorry for everything I've done to you Ri, I really am" I continue
"Just prove to me that I'm the one you want" Riley whispers
"I will" I whisper back before embracing Riley in a much needed hug before placing my lips on hers again but deepening the kiss this time
