The birthday party

Jared POV

When we were told that Mick and Tom were in a relationship I could guess that things would go wrong. I just found out and already there are rumors going around. Apparently several people are saying that Mick cheated. And they don't even know for sure. The group isn't what it used to be. Everyone is going their own way. I get that it's hard but should everyone be bothered by that? 

There's a birthday for Thomas tonight. Everyone in the group is invited. If this goes normally then I will become king. 

I asked in the group app if people wanted to cycle with me but everyone was already going with someone else. Everyone except Tom. I asked Tom personally if he wanted to ride with me, that way we both wouldn't have to arrive there alone. 

I was on my way to meet Tom when I realized I was almost there. I saw Tom already standing outside and waved. He wasn't even looking. Something was wrong, I could tell by looking at him.

Tom POV

I could already see Jared approaching. I didn't feel like going to Thomas' birthday at all. Of course he had to invite me to show me that their better together. Ugh. And all at once Jared was standing there. "Are you okay?" he asked. I shook my head. We biked together to Thomas' birthday party. 

When we got there I was given a very friendly welcome but after that was hell. Thomas sat on Mick's lap the whole time. We broke up less than a month ago and this is how he handles it. I was secretly hoping he would come back to me. 

It was almost time to go. I sat in a corner for the entire birthday. The only one who was still talking to me a bit was Jared. I wished I could sink through the floor or just disappear. I looked at Jared and he knew exactly what I wanted: to get out of here. "Hey thomas, do you mind if me and Tom go home? After all, I'm not feeling well". "Of course" said Thomas.

Jared POV

After I finished my beer I grabbed my coat and me and Tom left. I noticed that Mick was watching for a while longer but Tom didn't care. I really wanted to know why they broke up in the first place.

"Hey Tom, can I ask you something?" "Yeah sure" he said. "It's been like maybe a month now since you and Mick broke up. Why?" It was silent for a few seconds. "Well, because he was dating someone else. Was that all? "How do you mean?" I aksed because I wanted to know more.

"I came back from work. Me and Mick were going to watch a movie at his place. I changed my clothes and cycled to his house. Once I arrived, his parents told me I could walk upstairs because he was in his room. Turns out he was fucking Thomas."I was silent for a moment.

He continued, "I looked right into his eyes. He didn't do anything. I ran back downstairs as fast as I could and grabbed my coat. I heard that I was being called from upstairs. I didn't care anymore. Do you understand?" he asked. "Yeah, if that happened to me I wouldn't give a fuck anymore either" I replied. "I texted him that I was done with it and that I broke up with him. He didn't say anything. So that's why I hardly ever come." So the rumors were true. I didn't know what to say. Fortunately, we arrived at Tom's house. "When you get home you have to text me ok?" "Absolutely," I said.

I waved goodbye and this time he waved back. I hope he will get over Mick. And if not I'll help him. - Once on the road I saw all the police. I did nothing about it of course. When I had come home my mother looked shocked. "Oh honey, you did get home safely. Is everything okay?" "Yes, and what do you mean I did get home safely?" My mother remained silent. "Mom?" "I just got a text in that Mick crashed." WTF.

Less than a minute later I got a call from Tom. "Did you hear about Mick?" I asked. "No why, I was calling since you haven't texted anything" he said very calmly. "Mick crashed" "Seriously?" asked Tom. "Yeah, my mom came up with it. She says everything is fine now" "How long ago did this happen?" he asked. "About a half hour later from when we left." There was silence on the other end of the line. My mother entered my room with a great deal of noise. "I have to go but I think it would be wise for us to visit him sometime." "I think so too."

 I was waiting for Tom. Today was the day we went to the hospital because of Mick.

POV Tom

I wasn't looking forward to it at all. I still can't forgive him for what he did. But something in me says I have to go. I could already see Jared standing outside. I got some flowers and a card to be nice. I grabbed my bike from the garage. It was quiet on the ride to the hospital. After all, it was only a half-hour bike ride.

We had arrived. "Do you know where he is?" I asked. Jared was already walking in. I had a feeling that something was bothering Jared. "I know where he is. It's hard to explain since my mom only described the route." I nodded okay and we went. I was about to start a conversation when we walked into the room.

There he lay. "Hi, I bought some flowers and a card." Jared looked at me and was surprised I said anything. "Thanks for the flowers and the card. And of course for stopping by. Of course I didn't know if you were coming since some things have happened." Mick looked first at Jared and then at me. I felt the butterflies in my stomach. Shit, this wasn't supposed to happen. "What happened to you lying here?" Jared asked. "I was just riding my bike, because I wanted to take care of something else when all of a sudden a car came. And yes, more you can imagine haha." After a while Jared said, "I think it's time to go." "I wanted to ask something else," said Mick. "Can I have a moment with Tom?" WAT?????? Jared looked at me if I was comfortable and then walked out of the room. "Tom, I need to tell you something."
