He started by teaching his puppets how to do things like protect, attack, and other housekeeping stuff. He also taught them how to sew so in dangerous situations they couple repair themselves.

He had a day off of school today because his mother had insisted he stay home and rest to help recover from his injuries a bit.

But he was not resting. He was pushing his quirk to the max. He was trying to have more than five puppets active at once. Due to his energy levels always being low, five had always been the maximum. Not to mention it drained him to have his quirk activated for long periods of time.

So he exercised his stamina. He couldn't manage to get another puppet (it made him extremely drowsy) but he managed to go eight minutes with his quirk activated- being egged on by his puppets of course.

He was currently teaching his puppets how to thread a needle when he heard a crash from the kitchen.

It startled Izuku and his puppets. Words quickly followed the crash. Izuku tried to catch what he could.

"--have enough money for all of your alcohol, Hisashi!" His mother was yelling. His father responded in equal volume.

"I'm the only one bring relevant money into the house! All you do is mess around with guys all day and act like it gets you money-"

"Money that goes straight to fueling your drinking problem!" Izuku's mom yelled, her voice higher in volume. "You do all this working abroad and I'm sitting here worrying if we'll have food in the morning--"

"You waste it on that boy!" Hisashi yelled. Slamming his fist into something. Izuku's puppets popped! out of existence.

"You think if you stuff him full of food then he'll grow some backbone to fight off them damn kids! Where does he get that quirk from anyway?! It's useless! What's a couple of sock puppets gonna do for him in the real world, huh?"

Inko Midoriya went silent. She faught for a retort but her husband beat her to it.

"Ain't got nothing to say, huh? Well maybe this'll make you say something... where's that damn boy at?"

Izuku crouched into the corner of his room, fearful. What was his father going to do to him? He had only been training for one day and hadn't even started on the physical yet-

Izuku's door banged open, despite his mother's screams of "Don't bring him into this, Hisashi!"

His father picked him up by the collar and shook him.

"Light as a feather! What type of useless boy is as light as a feather? You should be heavy as a pig, you hear me boy?"

Izuku clawed at his father's arm, trying to get free. "Let me go!"

Hisashi did let him go, but before he had a chance to breathe, Hisashi was kicking and beating him. Into had run into the room and was calling the police. Izuku's vision was fading.

And it all went black.
