Damien was the only child of William Kirkwood (Earl Kirkwood II) and Amelia Kirkwood who owned the then largest fabric company in England, providing services that offered the most elegant clothes worn by monarchs.

When Damien was 15 years old, his parents were murdered by two mercenaries at the behest of some rival company.

Now the orphan a family of aristocrats, Damien became Earl Kirkwood III and received all his family's inheritance.

Growing up with serious mental issues caused by the traumatic events of his parents, Damien could barely take care of the Kirkwood company, which was the only legacy of his parents, besides his personal issues the cotton plantation was scarce, as well as the land for grazing sheep.

Unlike England, slavery had not yet been abolished there, and at that time Damien met one of his friend's slaves, whom he fell madly in love with and it was reciprocal. He worked on the plantation and Damien was so deeply in love that he would give up everything to free his lover and run away together.

When trying to gather what he had won to return to London with his lover, Damien found out that almost everything he had been gathering all this time was stolen; He rushed to tell everything to his friend but in the way he came across with his lover's body lying on his bed in the guest room, which was where he was staying in the mansion.

After investigating he discovered in no time that his, until then, friend had interrogated and killed his lover, upon discovering the coupleÂ's plan to run away, as a form of revenge; Damien went to his former friend and confronted him with what he had found, there, his friend told him that from the very start his plan was to use Damien only to access the fabric production of his family company, and to steal from, since he was already a broken earl.

Shocked, confused and in deep pain, Damien went to kill his former partner, but he didn't expected that the man still possessed the revolver that ended the life of the one who was his only and true love; Without hesitating, he gave him 3 shots, one of which stroke his heart, but in a way that didn't kill Damien right away.

Believing the two to be dead, he discarded the bodies as garbage in an oak forest.

On 31/12/1861, at the age of 21, under the light of the lunar eclipse, Damien struggled to give his lover his last kiss, but he was interrupted by a cold and sinister presence, which he could not even identify; the strange being offered him another chance.

It was a feminine voice, soft and seductive, making it impossible for Damien to refuse for some ulterior motive.
