Coffee Under the Rain (RYEJI AU)

Prologue

"So, LUX Law Firm huh?" Yeonjun, a friend of mine chuckled as he entered my room holding the calling card from LUX, I saw him from the reflection of the mirror of my vanity. I smiled widely and saw him grin "First day sucks you know" he said, I turned to look at him and throw the  BT21 lipstick that  I am not using anymore " huwag mong i-jinx" I said glaring at him "bakit ka ba kasi andito?" I asked but he just  shrugged his shoulders and  left.

After some minutes I went down. I saw my brother. Hyunjin eating a bowl of cereal while scrolling through his instagram. Yeonjun was sitting beside him peeling a banana "After four years, you can finally use kung ano man ang pinag-aralan mo haha!"  Yeonjun chuckled, I rolled my eyes at him and went to the fridge to  get some milk "As if I have a choice." I said pouring the milk in the glass "You have." Hyunjin said  "I heard LUX has a buffet for every meal, 'wag ka na kumain dito, ang gastos."  I turned to see Hyunjin "I will not consider it as a choice, Hyunjin. And really? Ako bumibili ng groceries."  I said but he just continued eating like I said nothing. 

Wala na ba talaga ako makakausap na matino? it's my first day for work for God's sake. Hindi pa ako nakakapagsimula eh sinimulan na ako ng dalawang kampon ni Satanas dito sa bahay. "I'll take you there." Yeonjun offered, he was about to stand up pero pinigilan ko siya "huwag na, ayoko magka-utang na loob sa'yo. Also, ang init-init pasasakayin mo ako sa motor mo? baka umitim ako." I said leaving the house. Last time na inihatin niya ako e siningil ako ng 350. Gaano ba kalayo ang street namin sa BGC? eh pwede ngang lakarin!

 While I was walking to the station biglang may humaharorot na  motor at nag-takeover sa kung saan dapat ako tatawid, he removed his helmet and I sighed as I saw Yeonjun. Bumaba siya at isinuot ang helmet sa ulo ko "Ano ba, masisira buhok ko!" hindi niya ako pinansin at kinuha ang kamay ko, hinatak niya ako  papunta sa motor "sasakay ka o kakargahin pa kita?" sabi nito. I have no choice but to ride noong nakasakay na siya. 

Yeonjun stopped in front of a gigantic building, LUX is written at the  very top. I removed the helmet and I saw people entering, they look  so sophisticated. "Good luck, Yeji" a voice behind me, Yeonjun said and patted my head "Ano ba, sabi na ang buhok ko eh!" I said fixing my hair but he just chuckled at sumakay ulit sa motor niya. Napatingala ako when I felt raindrops on my shoulders, it somehow became stronger kaya tumakbo na ako papasok ng building.

"Ano  ba 'yan first day ko eh mukha akong dugyot." I said talking to myself while wiping the wet parts of my body "ang ganda mo naman masyado para maging dugyot" a familiar voice said, I turned my back and almost shouted to saw who it is "Lia!" I said and hugged her "Grabe, last time I saw you noong graduation pa. You also work here at LUX?" I said after we pulled out from the hug "I went back to Canada na kasi after 'non to take my masters and no, actually I'm here for my girlfriend." my jaw dropped when I heard the word 'girlfriend'. I thought Lia was the most straightest person I know, she's always  been my girl crush "Oh I see, anyways I'm running late na, I need to go, bye! I hope we can catch up soon" she smiled back at me while I ran to my designated office.

The past few hours there was just some brief orientation and binigyan na kami ng teams namin for the cases that we will be working on. I am a registered psychometrician malamang ang cases na kung saan tutulong ako  ay related sa mga taong may problema sa pag-iisip. Based on the orientation, every lawyers has their team that consists of RPms para sa mga clients nila. I was assigned to Team Alpha and was introduced to the members however the lawyer that will lead us is apparently new at wala pa siya. I find it nice too since we're both new so hindi magkakaroon ng ilangan, sana. I went to my desk near the window, which is nice. I looked at the rain and something inside me just  crumbles, at sure ako hindi gutom iyon. I always get butterflies when it rains and I don't like it. The only way to let this go is coffee. 

Pumunta ako sa coffee station ng office kung saan napanganga ako kasi parang coffee shop. It gives me deja vu kasi at some point naaalala ko ang interior ng pinagtatrabahohan ko dati. I shrugged at the memory I just remembered and went to the espresso machine. I saw the ingredients and was amazed of how complete everything are. From expensive imported coffee beans to the local ones, and many more.

I grabbed a white vanilla and drizzled it into my cup. I grinned the coffee bean and put it in the espresso machine. I went to the fridge to get some milk and nilagay ko siya sa counter. I pumped the mocha syrup twice and one vanilla after that I poured the shot of espresso and added the milk I was about to take a sip when a saw a very familiar figure in front of me. She's wearing a very chic black business attire and was smirking in front of me. I think I am frozen at my spot as if I was stunned "Classic white mocha." she said but out of no where it was like my body was in control of me, lumapit ako sakanya and when we were inches closer I stopped. She was looking at me and I look back, the next thing I know is masakit na yung palad ko, I snapped when I saw Shin Ryujin holding her cheeks "what the-- why did you slap me?!" she blurted out, I was petrified for a moment "You deserve that for leaving me four years ago!" then I went out.
