The next day at school I was walking to my locker when I bumped into someone. "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. Here, let me help you." I said as I started to help him pick up his binders, folders, and notebooks. "Hey, don't worry about it. Where were you headed off to in such a hurry?" He asked. "Just going to my locker to get an extra notebook for class." I said. "Okay Ariel." He said. "Wait, how do you...?" I began before he cut me off. "How do I know your name? Everyone knows your name Ariel. It's a fact of life when you're one of the most popular girls in school. I'm Conner. It's nice to meet you." Conner said. "It's nice to meet you too Conner." I said. Later that day as I was walking home from school I heard people screaming and I looked in the direction of where the screaming was coming from. "Time for another fight." I said before morphing. "Dino thunder power up!" I said to morph. The others show up in their ranger forms. After a while I got knocked down to the ground and somehow demorphed. "Cover Ariel!" Tommy said. I saw the yellow and red ranger running over to me when they got hit with an attack, stopping them in their tracks. "Oh no. They've been hit!" I said. Tommy got in front of me. "Don't worry, I'll protect you!" Tommy said. Then Tommy got hit and went down. Then the blue ranger got knocked down. The monster that we were fighting left. Conner and the others walked up to me. They demorphed when they got over to me. "Ariel, you're the gold ranger?" Tommy asked. "Yeah." I said. "How did you become the gold ranger?" Kira asked. "It's a long story. Long story short I was walking back home from hanging out at the park when I saw something glowing out the corner of my eye so I walked in that direction and found the gold dino gem and morpher." I said. "So the gold dino gem must have sensed your presence and chose you." Tommy said. "Yeah, that's basically what happened." I said. Then Sarabi and Mufasa came out of the forest and saw me talking to them and they didn't take too kindly to that so they got in front of me and they were growling, snarling, and barking at them in an attempt to scare them away.

"Sarabi, Mufasa, calm down! They're my friends." I said. "They are?" Sarabi asked as she looked over her shoulder at me. "Yeah. Head back to the den. I'll be there in a minute." I said. Then Sarabi and Mufasa walked back into the woods and back to the den. "Wow, it's like those two wolves listen to you really well." Ethan said. "I know. It's the perks of being friends with wolves." I said. "I'm surprised that they didn't attack you, or us." Conner said. "Wolves are so misunderstood these days." I said. We talked for about five more minutes then I went back to the den. I couldn't quite understand why Sarabi and Mufasa freaked out while I was talking to the dino thunder power rangers. I know that they are just trying to protect me but I never knew why they were protecting me. I don't know if it was because they have been doing that for me ever since I was young or if something happened that made them feel like they had to protect me and everyone else in the pack. When I got back to the den I decided to make sure that the pups were okay. The pups were just fine. They were playing with each other while Hunter, the beta of the pack was watching them. The next day Mufasa came up to me while I was hanging out with John and gave us both a wolf pawprint. The pawprint was on the upper arm, near the shoulder. "Why are you giving us a pawprint?" I asked. "Sarabi will tell you after school tomorrow." Mufasa said. John and I looked at each other confused. We don't know why Mufasa won't tell us why he gave us a pawprint but I have a feeling that it's because something bad happened. The next day after school John and I walked back to the den and Sarabi was outside waiting for us. She was usually inside the den but this time she was outside. She walked up to us. "Listen up you two, you guys have to leave the den." Sarabi said. "Why?" I asked. "Wolfwalkers are being targeted by someone or something. We don't know who or what is targeting them but the forest is not safe for you right now. You can't let anyone know that you're a wolfwalker, not even your friends." Sarabi said. We got our clothes and stuff and left. "So where do we go now?" John asked. "I don't know. But I do have an idea about where we can go." I said. We went to Tommy's house and, let me tell you, he wasn't expecting to see us. "Hey Tommy." I said when I walked into the lab followed by John. "Oh, hi Ariel, hi John, what's up?" Tommy said. "Not much. We just got kicked out of our home for no reason." John said. I gave him this look that usually told him that whatever happened happened for a particular reason. I pulled him back far enough so that Tommy can't hear what I was about to say. "John, you know why we got kicked out." I said. "Ariel, listen, I'm not going to tell anyone that we are wolfwalkers." John said. "Well, what if you accidentally tell someone? Wolfwalkers are being targeted and we can't let anyone know what we really are." I said. "I know..." John said before I cut him off. "If they find out what we really are then what's going to stop this thing that is destroying the wolfwalkers from trying to destroy us?" I said. "I don't know. But I won't tell anyone that we're wolfwalkers." John said. "We have to blend in with humans so that they don't find out." I said. Then we walk back over to Tommy. "So, where are you guys going to go now?" Tommy asked. "I don't know, I don't have a family to go to." I said. "Why?" Tommy asked. I looked at John and then down at the ground. "Is it okay if I tell him?" John asked. "Uh, sure, I guess." I said. "She doesn't have a family because her parents got killed by Mesagog and her brother left." John said. "And it's been eight years since then." I said. "How did you survive that long without your parents or your brother?" Tommy asked. I didn't say anything and John didn't know what to say. "What's wrong?" Tommy asked. I took a deep breath and looked up at him. "Are you sure you want to know?" I asked. "Yeah." Tommy said. "Okay, so, I lived on my own for a few days and then I went into the forest. When I was in the forest I saw a mountain lion and started to run away when I tripped on a tree root and fell. My ankle twisted when I fell." I said.
