Alright, in June 2022 I decided to scholarship hunt because turns out qualifying for scholarships doesn't stop after high school and I discovered the Confidentwriters scholarship where my chosen topic was What is the most difficult part of writing an essay? I predicted the others would go with the obvious answers of grammar, editing, proofreading and procrastination. I decided to go with something relevant and hopefully unique, searching for something to inspire your writing. So I sat down at my desk, Microsoft word open while listening to the soundtracks for my favourite musicals and managed to turn my essay into a short story involving a unicorn who had to write an essay. Again hoping my unique entry would win over the judges, I submitted it in mid-June and checked the site on August 16th to see who won and, you expected this to be a feel-good happy ending where I won first place and was showered with roses and offers from publishers and I made it big but you would be wrong, I didn't win first place. Or second or third. But that isn't where the story ends because a day after the winners were announced, I got an email from Phillip, associated with Confident Writers, to promote the upcoming scholarship using my youtube channel. The only problem was I didn't have a youtube channel. Luckily he understood and when I told him about my Wattpad, he was more than happy to read it when I was finished, I was also sent another email with 20% off a paper before September 8th so even if you don't win, you get offers like these as a consolation prize for all your hard work. and here we all, full circle. So enter the scholarship contest because even if you don't win, you get to play a role in marketing the next year's contest.
