" 𝑻𝒂𝒆𝒉𝒚𝒖𝒏𝒈 , 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒈"
The words echo in his ears, his chest tightens—eyes brimming with unshed tears as the memory blurs his vision. He grips his rifle tighter, holding onto the past like a lifeline.
"𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅.."
The first time he heard those words, he felt warmth, affection—a gaze so soft, a voice so sweet, those words rolled off his lips with love that seemed unbreakable.
" 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 ..."
He can't deny it. He 𝒊𝒔 a criminal, guilty of a love so consuming it cost him everything. Yet the sentence isn't over; the price hasn't been fully paid.
" 𝑴𝒚 𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒑𝒐𝒏.."
But he built that rock. Without him, it wouldn’t exist. Now, that rock is crumbling, slipping away, becoming nothing.
" 𝑴𝒚 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒆 , 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈...."
A blessing? No. It feels like a curse—one he can’t shake. He needs the cure, the healing, the antidote to turn this curse into something divine.
"𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆.."
He's not smiling now. He’s trembling.
" 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 "
Is this happiness? If so, it was fleeting.
" 𝑨𝒔 𝒊 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖..."
Say it again, 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 his heart begs.
" 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒊 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖...."
Then, let death come.
Taehyung loads his rifle with shaking hands, backing up behind the bullet-riddled vehicle. The air smells of gunpowder and smoke. His face is streaked with salty tears and dirt. Jaw clenched, brows furrowed, his husband's vows ring in his head.
Explosions boom around him. The ground shakes. He stands, leaving his cover, rage rising like a storm inside him. Anger blinds his reason. He steps out in front of the enemy, body tense, eyes locked, and unleashes every last bullet with the force of his pain. His muscles burn, his heart screams.
Suddenly, a sharp pain slices through his chest. His rifle falls from his hands as his knees buckle beneath him. The ground rises to meet him in a crushing embrace. Blood seeps from him, pooling beneath his broken body.
His gaze drifts to the sky—once clear, now choked with fire and smoke, the air too thick to breathe.
He’s not dead.
But he might as well be.
"TAEHYUNG!!!"
