Jimin stirs, shifting uncomfortably on the mat. The roughness of the desert floor under the blanket reminds him all too clearly that he’s far from the plush mattress and silk sheets of his bed back home. With a sigh, he adjusts his neck, feeling the stiffness settle in. For a fleeting moment, he yearns for the familiar comfort of his room, surrounded by the luxuries he’s grown accustomed to.
His eyes flutter open, greeted by the soft, unwavering glow of the lantern beside him—the only source of light in the tent. He blinks, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep, but something feels…off. His brow furrows as he glances to his side and realizes the mat beside him is empty.
Sitting up with a groan, he rubs his eyes, hoping his vision will clear. He fumbles for his wristwatch, holding it up to the dim light to check the time. "3 AM," he murmurs, a knot forming in his stomach.
"Taehyung?" he calls out, his voice low but tinged with worry.
Silence.
A prickling sense of dread begins to settle in. Jimin rises to his feet, casting another look around the tent before ducking outside. The world beyond is bathed in darkness, the desert’s chill biting at his skin. Only the pale, ghostly glow of moonlight illuminates the landscape, casting long shadows across the sand.
“Taehyung?” he calls again, his voice louder, more insistent. The cool breeze brushes past him, sending a shiver down his spine as he steps further out. His heart pounds faster, the stillness of the night amplifying his unease.
His mind races with possibilities. Why would Taehyung leave? Where could he have gone at this hour? Jimin scans the area, squinting into the darkness, but finds no trace of his friend. Panic sets in, and he heads toward the mountains, where faint outlines of jagged peaks stand against the night sky.
“Taehyung!” he calls out, louder this time, his voice echoing into the vast silence.
With each step, the sand crunches beneath his feet, the barren landscape stretching endlessly before him. He pulls his jacket tighter around himself, bracing against the chill, eyes scanning every shadow, every movement, desperate to catch even a glimpse of Taehyung.
“Taehyung!”
"Aish!... There you are. I've been looking for you," Jimin breathes out, relief laced with frustration as he catches sight of Taehyung standing at the edge of the cliff. He stops in his tracks, just a few paces behind, noticing the silent tension that radiates from Taehyung’s frame—shoulders tense, chest rising and falling as if he’s struggling to breathe.
