"You with Rafe then?" Alexa asked me, causing my eyes to grow wide in shock.

"No, definitely not." I shook my head, trying to rid myself of that image. "He just found me after I get hit, that's all." I defended myself. Alexa nodded at my response, but I wasn't sure whether she truly believed me or not.

She continued to wipe at the wound on my stomach, my body stinging with every touch. Turns out my injuries were worse than I expected - I had a huge gash on my stomach, bruised ribs, a bruised pelvis, and cuts and bruises all over my head, arms and legs, but thankfully, nothing looked to be broken, meaning I could avoid the hospital completely. Alexa had cleaned all my cuts and placed ice on my bruises, but now she was addressing the huge wound on my stomach, which was requiring extra attention due to its huge size. I hadn't noticed either, but my top was completely stained with blood and although it was a red top, it was still incredibly noticeable.

"How come you didn't just go to the hospital?" Alexa asked. She continued to dab at my stomach wound, not making eye contact with me and I was thankful she didn't, because I could sense by her tone that she was judging me.

"Just, too expensive ya know." I lied. It wasn't technically a lie because it was too expensive, but the main reason was that DCS would get alerted I was there, and then John B and I's escape would be completely useless if I ended up in foster care.

She looked up at me and nodded softly. I swear I could feel the pity she had for me pouring out of her veins as she continued her work.

"You live with John B don't you?" she asked in a casual tone.

I furrowed my eyebrows at why she cared, "Yeah. He's my cousin."

"He's a great guy." she smiled, and as she looked up at me this time, her smile seemed more genuine and more honest. For the first time, I felt like I wasn't being judged by the rich blonde Kook who was helping me out.

"Yeah he is." I hummed in agreement.

"Don't worry, I never quite got the whole Kooks versus Pogues thing." she winked at me. I chuckled slightly, feeling more at ease with the girl now - she seemed to be letting her guard down with me, so I was doing the same with her, which caused a thought I never imagined I would have to run through my head. Maybe all Kooks aren't so bad.

Almost as if the universe was trying to give me a sign that I shouldn't be so quick to trust Kooks, the door was suddenly pushed open which caught mine and Alexa's attention.

"How much longer are you gonna be?" Topper asked, as he bounced impatiently at the entryway to the door he had just burst through.

"What the fuck, Top?" Alexa scoffed at his rudeness.

"I don't want her in my house." Topper breathed heavily.

"Ouch." I mumbled to myself, but Alexa sent me a sympathetic smile altering me she had heard my comment.

"Well tough luck, because it's my house too, and I want her here." Alexa motioned her hand at her brother to leave. Reluctantly, to my surprise he left, making a point of slamming the door on his way out.

"Sorry about him. He's.. uhhh, difficult. To say the least." Alexa continued attending to my wounds.

"You don't say." I replied and she chuckled.

"How come you got Rafe to bring you here? I'm surprised he wanted to help you." she asked, clearly just as confused as I was as to why Rafe had actually helped me.

I shook my head, unsure of how to answer. "I don't know."

"Maybe he took one look at your good looks, and couldn't help himself." Alexa looked up at me and shot me a wink. A smile grew across my face at her compliment.
