Gunnhildr.
"You don't have to forgive me." Jean's eyes were starting to blur because of the incoming tears.
"I hurt you a lot and that's enough reason for you to not give me a chance." Her lips turned into a pout no matter how much she tried to suppress the emotion.
"It pains me, but I guess I deserve that more than anything else." She called bullshit. She agreed that what he did was hurtful but he still deserved a second chance.
"I'm really sorry." It only made Jean cry harder.
"I love–" Knock knock knock.
The blonde's hands shot up to her face in an attempt to wipe off traces of tears and snot that might be visible. In that process, she accidentally closed the romance novel without a bookmark.
Dammit. It was getting good too.
"Come in!" She hoped that her voice didn't sound stuffy as she pulled the sheets off of her and sat properly on the bed. She did one last rub on her eyes before looking up and seeing who might be at the door.
She was expecting either a knight, a maid, or that one redhead, but she was surprised to see a new face. Icy blue locks, pale complexion, and eyes colored in dark purple and shimmering yellow. The woman didn't completely enter the room yet. Instead, she held the edge of the door and peeked her head inside.
"May I?" The woman asked. Jean reluctantly nodded in response.
She stepped in and Jean now has an idea of who she might be. By the look of her uniform, she must be a knight. An important one.
"I apologize for the intrusion, your majesty."
"Oh, no no, don't apologize. I wasn't... really doing anything important." Actually, it was the most important thing to her at the moment. The novel was just so damn good. Or perhaps she's still immersed in the fictional world that she had to subtly shake her head to snap out of it.
"Allow me to introduce myself," Jean turned her full attention to the woman. "Eula Lawrence of the Knights of Favonius. Captain of the Reconnaissance Company, at your service."
Jean was almost convinced that she heard wrong. "Lawrence...?"
As a knight? Is that even possible? She found it hard to believe that an enemy of the royal family is working with the royal family.
Nope. Not confusing at all.
The woman seemed to catch Jean's confusion on her face. If she didn't have self-control and respect for her 'queen', she would've scoffed loudly. The outright rude kind of scoff. She wanted to give her queen the benefit of the doubt but why would she do that to someone who will potentially endanger the nation she swore to protect?
She harmed the king once and she will do it again.
"Yes, but I don't work for them. Long story short, I don't associate myself with them anymore nor do I condone their vision of overthrowing Mondstadt's rule." Her eyes narrowed. "Unlike you."
Jean had to blink a few times after that. Miss Eula wasn't the only one who can read faces, since Jean can also tell that the bluenette was holding in hostility until that last comment. It was only two words but they had an impact on her. She's right though, and Jean can't blame her for acting like this.
"Touchè."
She still has many questions.
"I came to deliver a letter addressed to you. It's from one of the children in the elementary school in the city that I've grown close with. I don't usually accept simple favors such as this one but... I had to make an exception for her." Jean only noticed the letter in her hand when the knight walked closer.
