You mentally prepared yourself, but that all went to waste since Dark Markery was a very menacing Marker to begin with.

With a simple lift of his hands, Dark Markery was able to summon so many chainsaws. They came flying from all sides of the arena; you barely dodged them as the flew past you. (One did breeze past your cheek, though.)

After the warm-up (if you could even call it that), Dark Markery moved to the south side of the arena; you turned around, following him, and continued to shoot at him. You noticed that his actual HP bar (you just assumed that the one he had above his cap while running around the pedestal was fake) was going down. You could also see some lilac-colored ink marks on the arena floor, supposedly Dark Markery's blood.

Dark Markery sent his left hand forward, and multiple conga lines of chainsaws came flying in from the southwest side of the arena. You quickly ran to the southeast side, safe from the very loud murder weapons.

Dark Markery noticed you moved there, sent his right hand forward towards you — and more lines of chainsaws came from the southeast side of the arena, coming right at you.

"Oh, you little.." you mumbled under your breath as you ran back to the southwest side.

Dark Markery laughed. "Seeing you struggle makes me feel so... alive..!"

You rolled your eyes, dodged, and kept shooting as more chainsaws flew your way. "Okay, I get it! Your sadistic!"

As you were roasting Dark Markery, you didn't notice the chainsaws flying at you from the west wall of the arena. When you did notice, you saw a path where there were no chainsaws. You tried speeding over there; you almost made it when—

Darkness.

You spawned back. Dark Markery's chainsaw was still roaring; this time, he was holding his single chainsaw and running after you. "Wow, first death of this battle, huh?" he exclaimed as you ran around, shooting at him. "On a scale of one to ten, Purple Marker, how brutal was it?"

"Very," Purple Marker replied bluntly.

After a bit more running around and shooting, Dark Markery started floating again, shoving his possibly endless chainsaws in your face.

You remembered the patterns the chainsaws went in from the previous attempt, so you dashed, jumped, and dodged like a pro.

At last, it came to the chainsaw attack that you died at. You remembered where the open path was, and ran towards it before the chainsaws could get you.

You barely made it in time, but you made it nonetheless. You took aim at Dark Markery yet again, and started shooting. You sighed of relief, seeing that his HP bar was going down quickly.

As you were shooting, you kept in mind that this might be be the only attack of its kind, so you had to prepare yourself for a new one (which also meant preparing for another death).

Unfortunately, you were wrong. Dark Markery sent forward yet another flying armada of chainsaws, coming in from the south; still leaving an open vertical path. The good news was: you now knew what to expect next time! The bad news was

Darkness yet again.

You respawned in the arena. It was the same routine: running, shooting, dodging. You prepared yourself once again. Personally to you, this boss fight was frying all of your braincells one by one actually, more like ten by ten.

Near the beginning of your third attempt, Dark Markery exclaimed, "Second death of the round, huh? How's it looking, Purple Marker?" like a news host.

"Two things," Purple Marker said. "One, looking terrible. Very bloody, but I can't stop watching!"

"Thanks for the boost of confidence," you replied sarcastically.

"And two," Purple Marker went on, "Stop referring to me as 'Purple Marker'. Just 'Marker' will suffice, okay?!" He sounded actually annoyed, which surprised you, since people refer to Marker as just.. "Purple Marker" all the time, right?

In response, Dark Markery snickered. "So? I don't care which you prefer, all right?" He scoffed. "I'm just going with what the game says!"

"Well, the game also refers to me as 'Marker' soooo.." Purple Marker mumbled in response.

"Can you two stop breaking the fourth wall and just continue the fight already?" you asked without thinking.

Dark Markery and Marker turned to look at you, looked back at each other, and kept repeating "Yeah, that makes sense", "Yeah, that'd be better", and things like that.

And with that the battle continues.

Yet again, the same routine. Running, jumping, dodging, shooting. Dark Markery didn't change up his attacks at all, which surprised you. Was this his way of being  quote, unquote "nice?"

When it came to the two attacks you died at, you were able to deal with them with ease. You expected a third version of the attacks, not wanting to be surprised again.

To your surprise, you were right! Dark Markery transferred to the southwest corner, sent both his hands forward, and more chainsaws whizzed past. You were able to make it to the open path it left before the chainsaws even got near you.

Dark Markery made a sound of impressed amusement. "Nice moves," he said simply.

"Thanks, but aren't we supposed to be fighting?" you replied.

"Oh, yeah, right." Dark Markery pulled away the chainsaws. "Actually, I think it's a good time to pull this one out.." He made a circular motion with his hands; chainsaws came piling in from all directions, aiming directly at the center pedestal.

"Oh my— OH CRAP WHAT THE—"

Yet again, darkness.

You stumbled over your words. "What— How did— You— WHAT WAS THAT?!"

"Phase one of my very epic attack, of course," Dark Markery replied.

"THAT'S PHASE ONE?!"

And, yet again, there was more running, shooting, dodging, and jumping. Repeated over. And over. And over. And over.

It took you at least thirty attempts to get him; about half of those failed attempts were because of the circle chainsaw attack. Dark Markery looked very amused, respawn after respawn after respawn.

At one point, Dark Markery said this, "Hey.. so, uh, I'm getting kinda bored of fighting you. Can we, like,  take a break and chill for a bit or something?"

"Ooh! Yes, please!" Purple Marker agreed.

"Wha— never," you growled.

Dark Markery shrugged. "Huh. Okay, then! Your loss."

Darkness again. That was probably one of the most confusing things that's ever happened to you in this world, and that is saying sometimes.

Finally, the last attempt.

Phase one. The straight line chainsaws. You ran, jumped, dodged, and shot with ease. Yes, you were tired, but did that stop you? Not at all.

Phase two. The quick-moving attacks. You remembered the patterns for the path of chainsaws. You walked to the clear paths as if it was just a normal afternoon stroll.

Then, it was the part that had killed you so. Many. Times. The dreaded circle chainsaw attack (also known as Dark Markery's "vErY ePiC" special attack).

Over the past couple of attempts, you've figured out a strategy. That very strategy was: stick to a wall near Dark Markery, jump when the chainsaws spawn, and move when needed to be able to shoot Dark Markery. You did take note that you have to time your jumps correctly, or else you'd basically jumping onto the chainsaws instead of above them.

You bit your tongue, and started forward. You stuck to the wall closest to Dark Markery, and started shooting. Most of your bullets were able to hit him, doing a massive amount of damage. When Dark Markery moved, you moved, jumping (and getting stabbed along the way) to the wall closest again. You started shooting again, hoping, praying that this pain would end.

And, as if your prayer was answered, Dark Markery fell to the ground in defeat, but not death, and all the chainsaws disappeared.
