The Legend Begins V

Shanks was just lying in his bed while smiling to himself but one could see a few tears escaping his eyes. 'He is so much like you Tiger, Rosa, well he his your son after all.' Those were Shanks thoughts before he decided to let sleep over come him.

The Next Morning:

Shanks was woken up by someone knocking on his door. "What is it ?" Shanks asked not at all pleased that someone ruined his beauty sleep. "Captain it's urgent." Shanks immediately recognised the voice as Yasopp's. With a sigh Shanks got up and opened the door to reveal a rather happy looking Yasopp.

"What got you so happy Yasopp ?" Shanks asked the sniper. "Captain it's Kai he's up." As soon as Shanks heard that he started running towards where Kai was resting leaving Yasopp far behind.

When Kai finally woke up he found himself tucked in a bed but before he could take a look at his surroundings he was hit with blur, that blur turned out to be Luffy who had wrapped his arms and legs around Kai while crying his eyes out.

"Oi Oi, don't you dare put your snot on me." Kai said desperately trying to free himself from the rubbery hold but was falling miserably. "That's enough you are gonna break a few of his ribs Luffy." Benn said while separating the two brothers much to Kai's pleasure and Luffy's dismissal.

"You jerk you scared me." Luffy said while trying to hug Kai again with his streched arms. "Luffy if you didn't let go I am gonna beat you blue." Luffy quickly retracted his arms knowing full well that his little brother can beat him to a pulp just like his grandfather could. While the two brothers reunion was going everybody who was seeing the seen was laughing.

"Okay you two how about I make you some food, huh ?" Makino asked as just she expected Luffy was jumping around while chanting 'i want meat meat' causing everybody to burst into fits of laughter s again.

"Well why don't you come with me and tell me what else do you want to eat ?" Makino asked Luffy while opening the door of the house to leave but as soon as she opened the door she was met with the figure of Shanks. But before Shanks could even greet her, Makino ran off while Luffy was on her tail.

But Shanks didn't thought much of it as he had a promise and duty to fulfill. "Ahh so you are finally up." Shanks said while taking a seat infront of Kai's bed. "How's your arm ?" Kai asked on noticing that the doctor present in the room had began to change Shanks dressing while Benn, Yasopp and Lucky made sure nobody would enter the House that they were currently using. "It's not that damaged I might have some trouble while using my sword with it though for sometime." Shanks said while laughing. As  soon as Shanks dressing was changed the doctor also left the room.

"How is your wound doing, tough guy?" Shanks asked while motioning towards the bandages wrapped around the left side of Kai's face. "Well it stings a little but I'll live." A nervous chuckle left Shanks mouth on the choice of words. "Shanks, I wanted to ask you something ?" Kai asked the question while looking directly looking in Shanks eyes.

"What is it ?" Shanks went along the question but he had an what might that question be. "Why, why did you help us ?" This was the question that Shanks knew was coming his way sooner or later, but before Shanks could answer Kai went on with his questions. "We are nothing but some random kids born in a small town. We don't even know what his the name of our parents, so why did you help us ?" Kai's voice trembled when he mentioned his parents.

"Well, to answer why I helped you two, it's simple you two are my friends." The answer Shanks gave was completely different from the truth. 'I am sorry, but it will be safer for you if you didn't knew the truth.' Although Shanks felt guilty for not telling Kai the truth but he knew it will be safer this way.
