Jane stepped down from the plank, finding that Wilhelm had just arrived from the elevator.

"Nice speech." he complimented.

"Thanks." she replied, then invited him to follow into the conference room, where they could talk a bit more frankly.

"So...protecting an enemy top brass..." Wilhelm started before crossing his arms and leaning against the glass wall of the room. "What is the point?"

"The Empress believes that we can't negotiate with the current head of the Empire, Palpatine. However, Grand Admiral Tanis has climbed the ranks, and she seems convinced that he might be willing to negotiate."

"He is a soldier, and from what I heard he's steadfastly loyal to his country. What can we possibly do to push him in the direction of peace?"

"I'm not sure. We'll have to observe him. However, Bene...Her Majesty wouldn't have asked us to do something so apparently absurd if she hadn't seen something herself."

Wilhelm hummed in thought. "I know how good she is at playing the long game, but we definitely need some more info if we want to succeed. Maybe you should go speak with our psionic guest on Deck 3."

"Master Gozo, right?"

"Yes. She had been in Andromeda for the last year, surely she must have some knowledge about this entire Gordian knot."

"Maybe you're right. Get to the strategic room in the meantime and see who else we might speak with when we will reach Andromeda."

"Jawohl, boss." the man replied before heading into the next room.

Jane instead took the elevator and reached Deck 3. Sitting on the floor of the starboard observation deck, she found the psionic woman, seemingly meditating with her eyes closed.

"Captain." she greeted with a calm tone.

"Master Gozo. I have a few questions, if I'm not intruding."

"Of course, Captain. Take a seat." Gozo invited.

Jane took the invite and sat on one of the two couches facing the window. Gozo then uncrossed her legs and reached the couch as well, sitting in a way that was both elegant and disciplined.

"I understand you served for the last year alongside one of the leaders of the New Republic?" Jane asked.

"Yes, Captain. I fought alongside the Jedi Ezra Bridger."

"Yeah, tell me more about the Jedi and their supposed enemies, the Sith."

"They are both very powerful. Much more than me or any other psionic. The people of Andromeda have a much deeper connection to the Flux, or as they call it 'Force'. On one side, they can use their abilities to do things that only the most accomplished psionics can even think of doing, but it does have its downsides."
