LISA'S POV
I've never felt more nervous in my life. It's the first time I'll be away from home for such a long time and to top it off, I'll be alone.
As Rose drove me to the cottage, I looked out the window, taking in the beautiful scene. It's so beautiful out here. I couldn't help but also notice people young and old working in the farm and the fields as we passed them by. My heart goes out to them and I hope that they are not living a difficult life. It breaks my heart whenever I see people living a hard life while I'm living comfortably. I wish that life would be kinder to them.
"We'll arrive at the cottage in about 5 minutes." Rose conveyed through the rear mirror.
I can feel my nerves growing. But this is something I have to do. And I'm going to be positive about this learning journey.
As we turned into the small driveway of the cottage, I saw a small figure standing in front of the door.
"She's beautiful." I had no idea I said that out loud. Rose gave a knowing smile.
The car finally came to a stop. I knew the time has come where Rose would have to turn back and head back to the palace without me.
"Lis, are you going to be okay? Please call me if you need anything." Rose said as her voice cracked while embracing me.
Rose and I grew up together in the palace. Her parents work in the palace so she is my closest friend, more like a sister to me.
"My father doesn't allow that. You do know right?" I said in between giggles.
"I know. But he wouldn't know would he?" Rose smiles.
"You better go before I start losing courage. I will see you in 4 months Rosie." Tears started to threaten to fall from my eyes.
Rose then turned to Jennie, "Please, look out for her. She looks tough, but she's actually very soft on the inside."
"Don't worry, she's safe." Jennie simply replied with a small smile.
I stood there and watched as Rose drives off.
Turning to face Jennie, I suddenly felt lost.
Sensing my nervousness, Jennie finally spoke, " Hello Princess, I'm Jennie."
"Hi Jennie. Please, call me Lisa. I'm not a Princess, not for the next 4 months at least. Haha!" Lisa joked and Jennie laughed along.
"Well then Lisa, let's get you settled in." Jennie helped carry one of the big bags in.
I stood there, taking in my home for the next few months.
"So... i suppose you already know I'm new to all of this. I hope I won't be too much of a trouble to you." I said shyly. I didn't want to embarrass myself.
Jennie gave an encouraging smile, like she knew how I felt, "Don't worry, I'll be here every step of the way. My cottage is right there. I've also placed my number on the counter so whenever you need me, I'll be here in no time."
"Thank you." That was all I could say, before my stomach made a funny sound.
Jennie let out a chuckle, "I've stocked up a couple of days of food supplies. After which, I'll bring you to the store so that you'll learn how to do your own grocery shopping for the next couple of months. For now, I can teach you a few dishes for dinner that you can make."
"Right. Grocery shopping and cooking." I mumbled.
