Started off like any day,
This morning I ran late again,
Burned the toast and missed the train,
The morning rush is such a drain,
Business suit, Doc Marten boots,
People give me funny looks,
But I still got to balance the books,
While trying not to loose my roots.
Don’t feel like it did before,
When did life become a bore?
Was a time when I wanted more,
But I’ve forgotten what I’m working for,
Yet somwhere in the back of my mind,
Somewhere where it’s hard to find,
Is the girl I left behind,
A victim of the daily grind.
Now every day feels like a lie,
Reach the door and walk on by,
hands are shaking, mouth is dry,
Won’t stop til I reach the sky,
And I’m just calling in to say,
That there will be no work today,
Seems somewhere I lost my way,
Yeah I know; they’ll doc my pay.
