With Viggo guiding you to the gangplank to step off the ship, you stepped into a complete new world to you. The atmosphere around you seemed so... enlightening. You didn't feel weird at all to be here, it was like you were feeling comfortable and at home. These salesmen and women had great products on display, calling out their produce and wares they had for sale. Everything looked great!

"Ahum." You heard Viggo clear his throat. You turned back to face him as you saw he was offering you his arm. With appreciation, you locked arms with him and he guided you over the terrain that was called the Northern Markets.

On your left, salesmen were selling their produce of milk, leather and cheeses while on your right saleswomen were selling their jewelry and rare stones. You were so sunk in admiration of this place that you didn't notice Viggo had led you to the stand in particular already. He cleared his throat again to gain the attention of the saleswoman behind the stand. And yours as well.

"What can I do for you today?" The woman asked kindly. "This young woman needs a few new dresses." Viggo explained to the woman. "Ah, a noble Lady, I see." She assumed you were of rank, but Viggo quickly stopped this woman from going too far with her ideas. "She is only wearing that dress because she had nothing else to wear. I borrowed her that dress on a temporary basis." His voice noticeably more direct as before.

"My apologies, sir. I will take a look at what I have for her. Would you join me in finding something that might fit you well, dear?" The woman gestured you to come with her towards the house that was behind her stand. You hesitated to go, but Viggo gestured you to follow the woman.

Coming inside, a lot of dresses and other pieces of clothing were to be seen. You couldn't help but admire the workmanship, knowing that no machine could have made these fabrics. All of this was made by hand with hours and hours of work.

"Are you coming, lass?" You heard the woman call out to you from the back of the shop. Once again, you were pulled out of your thoughts as the woman came to you with a few dresses in her arms. "You pick out which ones you like most, dear." She said and went to work on other things while you took a look at the dresses that were laid in front of you.

You loved the colors. They weren't too flashy, but a rather more with earthen colors. Green, about the same color as the dress you were wearing now, grey, brown, red, blue and more. There was so much to choose from! You didn't know which one to pick.

"I really like all of them, but I don't know which one I want. I don't even know how many I can choose." You felt guilty to Viggo if you were saying you would take all of them. That would cost him a fortune! "I have reserved enough gold for you to buy three dresses. Should be enough for the time coming." You heard Viggo's voice coming from the doorway.

You looked back at him to see him standing there. You stuttered as you wanted to tell him how much you appreciated him. "Th... Thank y... you." You did your best to shake off the awkwardness you showed once again and cleared your throat. "Thank you. I appreciate the things you do for me." You even made a small bow like a lady in that time would do to a man.

It made Viggo chuckle once again. "You don't have to show your appreciation to me by bowing, my dear. You have been through a lot, I want to make things easier for you. At least as easy as I can." Viggo stepped inside the house and grabbed something from his belt.

He held it out for you to take it

He held it out for you to take it. It was an actual dagger! "I can't take it." You did not want to take it at all. You knew all to well what these kind of weapons can do. What damage they can inflict. There is already enough violence in your own time, let alone you had to wear one yourself.

"You have to take it. You will need to be able to defend yourself. These waters and lands can be dangerous, I don't want anything to happen to you this early that you're here." He sounded somehow concerned about you.

With hesitation, you took it from him and looked at the weapon that was now yours. "Keep it close and someday, it may save your life. You will be instructed how to use it later today." Viggo said to you, leaving you with no other choice than to heed to his wishes.

The saleswoman came back and spoke to the both of you. "Have you made a decision yet, dear?" She asked you. You looked back at Viggo who gave you a nod to choose the three dresses you liked most. "I will take the grey, blue and green ones." You said as you still weren't sure if you wanted these colors.

"Very well then. If you would follow me to the back, I will adjust them to your size." She grabbed your hand and dragged you to the back, leaving Viggo chuckle in amusement as he could read the facial expressions you showed him. Complete confusion of what was happening to you and maybe a slight call for help.

The woman went to work and within a few hours, she had the dresses adjusted to your length and size. All of these happenings had made you feel rather exhausted. "There you go! Now you look like a nice young Viking lass." She looked at you while you were wearing the blue dress. "Thank you for your kindness." You spoke to her just before you heard a voice speak up from the door again.

"So you are ready to go now?" Viggo leaned against the doorpost with his arms crossed. "I think I am." You said a little shyly to him. It made him chuckle once again. "Leave the thinking over to me. You are ready to come with me, we have to get back to work." He said. Right, work...

Viggo stepped up to the woman and handed her a pouch filled with money. He then led you back to the ship with a hand on the small of your back. "Wait, don't we have to do more here right now?" You asked startled. "I have done everything I needed to do while you were playing dress-up. We need to leave." He said strictly without looking at you. "Why the hurry?" You asked confused. "I have my reasons. Now stop talking." His voice became even more harsh and he pushed you harder to quicken your pace.
