Dear Eddie, Richie is so depressed without you here. He's making mire and more jokes and we all know it's just because he's nervous. Like Richie said above me and Bill had a huge fight and I think we might breakup soon. I haven't told the rest of the Losers yet but I'm moving away as well. The foster care people finally found me a new family so I won't have to deal with my awful dad. I feel like the whole group is totally spitting apart. You moved away, Richie is isolating himself, and mow I'm moving away! This sounds horrible but I sorta miss the summer we all fought the clown thing. I hope you're well. From, Beverly Marsh
Eddie was so confused. How did these people get his address?? The names sounded kind of similar but Eddie obviously wasn't close with them or he would remember. Why did that Richie kid sign the letter "Love Richie," and why was he depressed without him? He also didn't understand why the Beverly girl called people the Losers. Eddie was no loser. He was one of the most popular guys at school! He and both girls and guys at his fingertips!
"Dude these people must have gotten the wrong Eddie." James guessed as he read the letters.
"Ya maybe, but I think I recognize the names. Its probably some prank or shit like that," Eddie suggested.
Over the course of the week Eddie had been on Cape Cod he hade made tons of new friends but he was definitely closest with Jame. Their personality's just clicked. James even was totally fine with Eddie being a germaphobe.
"Katrina Winstead. Smash or pass?" James said.
Eddie thought about it for a moment, picturing the brunette freckled girl before saying, "Definitely smash!"
James spun around in the gaming chair Eddie had just gotten for his room.
He grinned at Eddie's answer and told him, "Well you're in luck cause she likes you, like she like likes you."
Eddie's eyes went wide. As far as he could remember he had never had someone like him before. He was pretty much the only guy in his grade who hadn't had his first kiss. Now this beautiful kinda girl had a crush on him and Eddie felt like he was on top of the world.
"You should definitely ask her out!" James suggested.
Eddie liked that idea. He could set up a romantic dinner and maybe lean in and land a kiss on her cheek. His first kiss. He'd have to hide it from his mom because she believed the only person who Eddie could ever like was her.
"Hey Eds," James began to say something but Eddie stopped listening after hearing that name.
Something clicked when he heard it. Someone used to always call him Eds and he always said he really hated while he actually loved it, but he had no idea who it was.
"Please please don't call me that."
Eddie thought the name somehow sounded wrong coming from James mouth.
"Oh ok. Well anyways I've been meaning to ask what those scars on your wrist are from?" He asked
Eddie looked down and tried to remember. He hadn't even realized he had those scars.
"I'm not sure. They've been their as long as I can remember," Eddie told him.
Eddie grabbed a paper off his desk to write back to the mysterious writers. First he reread both of the letters and noticed that the Richie kid had written "Dear Eds." Could he have been the one who gave him that nickname? Eddie was so puzzled with why he didn't remember stuff about his old town. It had only been one week! Eddie thought of what to write but then settled with one idea.
Dear Richie and Beverly, I'm quite sure who you people are so I'd really appreciate it if you would leave me alone and stop writing. Sincerely, Eddie Kasparak
