Chapter 33: "Seul" of Science - Date Night

The house was silent and the only thing you could hear was the sound of a mechanical clock ticking. The weather was calm and there was hardly any wind. You sat on the couch mindlessly staring into the black screen on your TV with your reflection looking mindlessly back at you. For the past two days, things were less than dandy. Within the last 48 hours, many things happened and there was a major situation that came about at work. While you wanted to talk to Seulgi about them, you decided not to, at least not until today when she comes over for a little date night to hang out and eat with you. Suddenly, your thoughts started spiraling into a rabbit hole full of jealousy and overthinking.

[YN's Thoughts]
Is she going to show up with Bam Bam today? What if that happens? What will I do? Should I just let her be? Perhaps Bam Bam is the dream man she's missing. How am I going to even start telling her about everything that's happened in the last couple of days? How is she going to react to it? Are we still going to be able to be Ajumma and Pabo to each other anymore? There is an obvious distance between her and I now, and it's only getting worse. Is it going to be awkward when she comes over?

A slew of thoughts rushed in and all was a blur. You don't know what you're thinking about and frankly, you don't even know what's going on anymore. Suddenly, your phone vibrated and it was Mina checking in on you.

[Chat with Miniari]

Minari: YN-Nie what are you up to?

YN-Nie~: waiting for someone. What are you doing?

Minari: Reading over a title track that we're going to record. Dahyun said you're working on one of the album's songs with her.

YN-Nie~: lol nah I just sat there with her. I had a little contribution to it. Dahyun has the magic pen.

Minari: I want to know what it's about.

YN-Nie~: keke I don't know ;) Maybe you'll find out when you record that one.

Minari: hmph!

With Mina's check in, you were successfully distracted from the empty feeling and dreaded thoughts momentarily. While still messaging each other, the doorbell rang and it was Seulgi. You scanned your security cam and she was alone, and there was fortunately no sign of Bam Bam. With a smile, you opened the door. "Annyeong Seulgi Ajumma," you greeted her.

"Pabo, look what I got, it was on sale!" Seulgi excitedly said, holding up a bag full of groceries. "We can make chicken and shrimp linguine," she continued with a bright smile.

The menu for the night was simple, but a little romantic. You planned to make chicken linguine paired with a bottle of wine given to you by SinB for your birthday. With Seulgi's new ingredients, the simple pasta got a little fancier. "Wow, we're going to have a fancy meal tonight," you said, grabbing the bag from her so she could take her shoes off.

"So Pabo, where do we start?" She asked while washing her hands.

"Don't worry about that just yet. Here, have an egg tart. I made it," you said, handing one to her.

Seulgi chuckled, "how do you know I was hungry?"

"Pabo always knows when Ajumma needs some energy and food," you replied, making Seulgi a little flustered and she just looked down at her egg tart as she took a bite. While she was enjoying an egg tart, you also gave her a cup of water before starting on cutting the vegetables.
