What is it with Roberto and Damien being secretive?

"I'll be back, don't move" He rises and makes a move to kiss me, closing my eyes and puckering my lips I wait. "If you need anything call the maid she will assist you" he places a soft kiss on my cheek. Then he leaves. A kiss on the cheek, that's it. He does want to take our relationship slow. Really slow.

I cautiously began to follow. Damien stops when he reaches the library and he finds Roberto staring at the fire place.

"So brother what is it you wished to discuss?" Damien crosses his arms

"Why did you bring her here Damien?" he asks getting straight to the point "I definitely know it wasn't for your benefit" he continues looking at the fire, engrossed. "Although maybe it was or shall I say is" Roberto says. Now this is becoming interesting.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Damien sits across Roberto shifting in his seat, giving him his full attention "What do I gain of her staying here?" He says.

What does he get?

"I see the way you look at her. You both seemed quite comfortable together, with her on your lap earlier" Roberto says distracted by the flames.

"And your point is?" His voice sour

"In all these years I have known you you have never shown any interest in women; do you think it is wise considering the baggage you carry?" Roberto explains sincerely.

"What baggage, please pray tell?" Damien asks intrigued

"So you haven't warned her of you nature" he says sighing quietly.

Warn me, of what? He better not be a drug addict he doesn't seem like the type.

"I don't think she is ready Roberto, it has been 24 hours I assume she won't be ecstatic with the revelation" he whispers.

"Have you formed a relationship with the Human?"

Human? What a strange way of asking

"Her name is Cassie and yes we are together" He says irritated.

Are they both going to just chat about me all evening?

"What of your mate? When she comes along will you cast Cassie aside? You know brother I am concerned for you, what will you decide? Vampires rarely Mate with Humans, we think lowly of them especially the 12 Old Ones which include you and I. What would Master Vonderheide think he may even forbid you to continue this... relationship?" Roberto declares.

"I do not care of their opinions or judgment they can shove it up their backside, as the humans say. As for my Mate well it has been centuries, I am sure that was enough time for her to come. It is too late I have found someone I love and who loves me in return in just a short time" he speaks with so much passion and feeling it's obvious that he clearly loves me.

"I see, I stand by you brother with what you have chosen, if you need anything ask I will do as much as I can to help" Roberto says kindly they both take hold of each other's forearms and shake bumbling words probably of appreciation.

What the giant retarded monkey was that? Human, Vampire, Mate those three words keep on repeating over and over again inside my head.

Jody! Oh monkey butt I forgot, she's likely running around now lost maybe even worried why I am not at school. Where did I last dump it? Rummaging through my untidy backpack I search for it. "Alas" I give my baby a big sloppy kiss "How are you my precious, Mommy's missed you" I call her.
