Mad Max

Part 4

Max's POV

Everyone has left, it's just me, Robin, Nance and Mike.

"anyone hungry?" Nancy walks into the kitchen,

"yea as long as it isn't  moms meatloaf" Mike fake gags,

"I'll eat whatever your cooking nance" Robin smirks,

" I'm not really hungry" I say and Robin stares at me,

"you haven't eaten in like days?" Robin blurts out,

"I am just tired, I think I'm going to go to bed"

"ok well if you need anything just give us a yell" Robin walks into the kitchen. Mike stares at me as I walk away, I go down to the basement and take off my jeans, I wrap myself in the blankets and fall asleep. 

Els POV

I wake up to the phone ringing, I rush up and answer it,

"Max! how was your night?" 

"Oh uh fine I guess but I miss you El, wanna hangout?"

"Of course! Let me just ask Hop" I put down the phone and walk into Hoppers room,

"Hey Kid we have to talk" he sits down on the end of his bed,

"oh um okay"

"so Max's stepdad has charged Steve with assault and they filed Max as a runaway, do you know anything about that?" 

"No"

" El I know you don't want to hurt your friends and neither do I but it's out of my hands, you need to tell me where they are" 

"I don't know"

"El friends don't lie right"

"right, I'm sorry Hop I just don't want to put them in danger"

"it's okay El, you just need to tell me where they are"

"They are at Mikes house"

"okay thanks kiddo, I got to go now" he gets up,

"wait, what will happen to Max?"

"she will just get taken back to her Mom, it's okay El everything will just go back to normal, I'm sure you were really worried about Max." he pats my back and leaves, I run back to the phone,

"MAX"

"El? what's wrong"

"Max the police are coming for Steve, he got charged with as-ult? I don't know what that is but I think Hopper is going to arrest him"

"shit"

"they also are coming for you, they say you runaway?"

"oh fuck, El I can't go back there" she starts to cry,

"Max don't worry I am going to come over and stop them" I hangup the phone and take Wills bike, I have no idea how to ride this, luckily the whole trip is downhill. I run into the Wheelers house but the police are already there, they have Max in handcuffs, she's crying and trying to kick the police away,

"YOU CAN'T TAKE ME BACK THERE" Max yells, Nancy and Robin are getting questioned in the kitchen by a different officer, a police officer walks in with a needle and injects it into Max, 

"EL HEL-" her body shuts down, Mike runs up to me,

"El, I know this is scary okay, just don't look okay" he hugs me and shields my eyes while they drag out Max, Nancy and Robin run out from the kitchen.
