7:00 a.m., TOKYO

"good morning, miss y/n", you groaned and turned around in bed as you heard the greeting from your maid at the door.

light was pouring in through the gaps in the curtain, making you put a hand over your eyes to counter it.

you wondered what was on the agenda today, eyes still closed. what time did you have to go into work? what wedding prep...

oh.

your eyes opened and you stared at the high ceiling directly above you.

today, you were leaving home.

you now squinted due to the light coming through the window as you looked around at your nearly empty bedroom. most of the things had been neatly packed up and sent to your new home in osaka.

you would leave tokyo today to go to the wedding destination and from there, you'd directly leave with kiyoomi to go to osaka.

the last couple of days had been tedious, with your mother calling professionals home for waxing and a massage and a hair appointment and nails.

you would admit that once the pain from the wax faded, you felt like a completely different person. you kept touching your skin because of how smooth it was and you avoided doing anything that would hurt your perfectly manicured nails.

the wedding was being held over the weekend at your family's vacation home in gunma. you'd been there several times growing up, but never with your wedding in mind.

it was a beautiful place no doubt. it had a pleasant climate this time of the year but it often snowed heavily in winters. the preparations for the wedding had begun there several months in advance.

tomorrow, you were getting married. chills ran through you.

"breakfast has been served", the maid smiled shyly because she knew what day it was too.

you gave her a sleepy smile in return and nodded. she left the room. you got out of bed and walked into the bathroom right next to your closet. you'd always wished you had a bathroom attached to your closet. that would make things easier.

you brushed for the last time in your own bathroom and then splashed some water on your face, dabbing it dry with the face towel next to the basin.

by the time you headed downstairs, still in your pjs, you were greeted by an entourage of aunts and uncles and excited cousins.

"there she is!! the bride to be!!", your dad's older sister pulled you into a hug before you could fully process the bustling atmosphere.

you smiled when you pulled away and another auntie immediately jumped to take her place to talk to you about how excited she was. "i can't believe our hanabi is getting married!!"

hanabi. it was an affectionate nickname, originally given to you by your parents. it meant firecracker and your dad always said it suited you.

it had caught on nicely. a lot of your family members and close friends called you hanabi so often that it had turned into their regular way of addressing you. it didn't even feel out of the ordinary when someone said it.

your older cousins and younger cousins all congratulated you in various ways, depending on your degree of closeness with them. handshakes and side hugs and reserved-for-few full blown hugs.

you definitely should've changed clothes before you headed downstairs. although, none of your relatives really seemed to care about how you were dressed because they knew you were going to change at some point before everyone left.
