Alexandra's POV
Two blue check marks but no response... That's what I see when I look at the message I send Nick yesterday right after my tutoring session with Lucas.
The tutoring session went exceptionally well. With my mom just a few feet away we really couldn't do anything other than study. And because of that we got through two chapters already.
But it also destroyed me. It was so much information that my brain now has muscle pain. It's not used to heavy lifting.
Ugh, I don't want to go to school today. My brain hurts, I am hungry, my bladder is still annoying and I need more sleep.
Because I wanted this stupid urinary infection gone as soon as possible, I set my alarm at 1 to eat a granola bar and pop in another pill so I had 8 hours between the pills. Yes I can be strict, but only when I really want to.
On the positive side, my fever is gone now.
I snooze until I really can't go any longer and drag myself out of bed. After doing my morning routine with the additional antibiotics, I look at myself in the mirror and sigh. "I have seen better days" I mutter.
I put on some light makeup to give my face a bit more life. After I'm done I decided a little more blush won't hurt today. Dragging myself down the stairs, I see that my mom and dad already left. And when I look at the clock I know why...
"Fuck" 10 minutes late already. I quickly grab my bag and start walking to school. It's not that far but atleast a 15 minute walk, so I start to jog my way over there.
Not even 2 minutes in I drop to a normal walk pace. I'm already to late, why rush? Might as well skip first period as a whole.
And I did. Wandering the streets and taking my time scrolling on Instagram till it was time to get to class. I even installed Tinder after seeing two adds.
Second period is with Ava, but with my current state I'm not up for her bubbly personality.
"Okay 4 seconds in and 6 seconds out" I chant quietly to myself when I see her coming my way at the end of the hall. But once she's in front of me a modest "Hi" comes out of her mouth.
"Uh, hi. Are you alright?" I ask with concern in my voice. "Yeah, I'm fine." She replies reserved, while I link my arm in hers to continue our path to the classroom. I study her for a moment while she lets me lead the way. Nope, she's not okay.
Before I can comment on her behaviour she starts. "But I better ask you that question... I mist your call yesterday and haven't heard anything about your wild escapades yet. What happened on friday night?" She says with building enthousiasm and almost hyper at the end of her speeding ramble.
There she is, the Ava I know.
Deciding to tell the good and short version of what happened, I say "I spend the night with mister headlock." Feigning innocent and glancing sideways to see her reaction.
Ava gasps and comes to a complete stop, halting me with her. "No, you didn't?!..." She looks me in the eyes as if to find something that indicates I'm lying.
"Oh my god, you should have told me! I totally would have covered for you when your mom called... Was it bad?" She asks reffering to the house arrest I got.
"Nah, it's fine. My dad brought it back to only the weekend, so it wasn't that tough." I shrug. It wasn't the worst thing that could have happened.
"Sorry by the way. I left early and just assumed that the guys would take you back home." She said with a guilty expression.
