Anger: What We Do For Love
FADE IN
EXT. HIGH SCHOOL — DAY
IT IS 10:00 A.M.. The sun is glaring down from above. We open on an aerial view of E.M.A. High School. The bell is clamoring incessantly. The camera swoops down into a window where many students are swarming through the halls, and their obnoxious noises can be heard from inside. The camera pushes towards a window on the third floor and into ——
INT. HIGH SCHOOL — HALLWAY — DAY
Most students are heading to the cafeteria so that they can sate their hunger. Others are wandering to spend their time on dull meaninglessness. The camera is centered on CHARLES (18), long hair, dramatic, willing to do what keeps his best friend alive.
Charles is headed for a classroom, constantly checking the inside of his satchel. The camera stalks him from behind as he pushes through the mob of students. The camera shifts to Charles's front, where a heart necklace is hanging from his neck.
The camera pivots with Charles as he enters ——
CLASSROOM
The classroom's center has been cleared, leaving a ring of seats in the center. The pathetic Student Council members sit in these seats. Only one chair is left unoccupied. Meanwhile, standing by the whiteboard is the beautiful YORI (17), short, flustered, hopelessly in love with Charles. She smiles as Charles enters the classroom.
YORI (relieved and anxious)
"Ch—Charlie! I thought we'd miss you! Come on, sit down. We'll start right away!"
Charles snickers confidently as he approaches the ring of chairs and sits down.
CHARLES (bold)
"Sorry, Yo-yo. Damn halls keep getting more and more choked."
One of the council members rolls her eyes. TSUKI (18), rough, aggressive, endlessly jealous of Yori, shakes her head at Charles.
TSUKI
"Whatever. You were making another love letter, weren't you?"
Charles rolls his eyes back. Yori awkwardly snickers as she turns back to the whiteboard.
YORI (nervous)
"The Harana Festival is today...! Very romantic occasion. Does everyone remember what they're going to do?"
TSUKI (sarcastic)
"Charles does."
Charles already has his notepad out. He flips over his mapping charts of Yori and the love poems he made her until he finds the Festival Details. He tears this page out and walks over to Yori.
CHARLES (flirty)
"Here, Yoyo. My number's on the back, too."
Charles hands the torn page to Yori.
YORI'S POV
Yori glances down to see all the Harana Festival's expenditures listed. At the bottom of the page is a simple line that reads "YOU KNOW WHERE TO GO." Yori's face burns up into a hot pink as she looks up now.
CUT TO
The camera is looking over Charles's shoulder and into Yori's widening eyes. She nods briskly to Charles.
