Jon felt his eyes snap open, and immediately, he felt something was off. For one thing, it was only his two human eyes that opened, and not his Eyes. He also still could not see. As he wondered why he couldn't see even with his eyes opened, the memories of the past few days came flooding back. "Martin?" he whispered. Then, louder. "Martin?!" He reached out and felt...hair? He gently moved his hands down to find a face, a nose, glasses. The same square glasses Martin wore. "Martin! Martin, are you okay?" Jon whispered, pulling him close. He could feel Martin's chest rising up and down against him. His breathing was slow, but there.

At least he was still alive.

Jon tried to See what had happened, but he couldn't. Shocked, he reached his hands up to his face. His fingers came away sticky and wet, and it felt like this substance was leaking from his eyes. The pieces began to fall together in his mind, and he pulled Martin closer to him. They had finally quit.

Jon smiled with terrified delight. Since the Eye had opened, he hadn't dared to even hope that he would survive its closing. And yet, here he was, and here Martin was, alive. They were together.

"Thank you, Martin." He whispered into his boyfriend's hair.  "Thank you."

He felt around beside himself, and behind his back, his fingers brushed against something rough and bumpy, and cylindrical in shape. His other hand touched something  soft, and...mossy? They were in the woods, then. So he and Martin were leaned up against a tree. Jon laid his chin on Martin's head and decided to rest for a time. They were in the forest, but as long as he and Martin were together, there was nothing that could truly hurt him, he knew. It wasn't the Knowing that he was used to, but he knew this with a surety and safety that he had not experienced for as long as he could remember.
