The date was October 1st 1965.
School was cancelled for all of September due to a large amount of snow preventing everyone from entering some places.

That was completely my fault.
Perks of having a magic cookbook, am I right?
But you can't make it snow forever.
Gina was begging Ida and me to use a counterspell on the snow anyways.

"Danika! If you want a lift to school, you better hurry up!" My brother Willy shouted.
Weird nickname, I know. Honestly, not sure who on earth thought it was a good name, but you do you.

I laughed as I thought to myself.
"Yeah, just give me a minute!" I yelled back.
I wasn't looking forward to school at all. I mean, who would?

I stood up from the chair in front of my dresser and smoothed out my light blue dress and quickly put on my cream coloured cardigan.

I turned off my record player and grabbed my school bag.

"Dani!" Willy shouted again.
I cut him off by jumping down the last 3 steps. "Why are you shouting? I'm right here." I gave a devious smile before pushing past him and running outside.

I could've sworn I heard him scoff behind me.
How rude.

"What took you so long? I've already been accepted to Harvard and have met a lovely lady, who I will soon start a family with." My brothers sarcastic tone rang.

"Bold of you to assume any lady would want you." I thought for a moment before opening my mouth again. "Or that you'd be excepted to Harvard."

I let out a small laugh, which immediately got louder as Willy elbowed my shoulder.

"Are we ready to go?" Our Mom got in the car.
"I guess." I grumbled as my mom stepped in the peddle.

"Don't look too sad. I'm sure you'll pass at least one class this year." He gave his snarky remark in a friendly voice.

"Whatever."

As soon as I reached the gate, a pair of arms flung around my neck. I was either being murdered or attempted to be murdered.

"Becky, do you plan on murdering me?" I choked for air. "Sorry! Its just been a while since we saw each other. Considering the snow and all." Her voice became quiet at the end of her sentence.

"It's been three weeks." Ida swung her bag over her shoulder. "Three weeks is quite a long time." Gina finally added to the conversation.

"Oh well, we're together now." I smiled at the girls.
"You didn't cook without us, did you?" Gina looked at Ida.

"Do you really think that low of me? Of course, I didn't." Ida so clearly lied. We all raised an eyebrow.
"Fine, but it was only a small spell to get my sister to stop stealing my things." The girl admitted.

"Fair enough." I muttered.
"You could've just asked her to stop." Becky shook her head. "Yeah, I could've. Oh well, too late now."

The bell rang.

"Is that the bell? We better go." Ida hurried away.

We all looked for our classes and had most of them together.

Throughout the whole morning, I was as bored as I could be. If I could choose to snow the school in forever, I would definitely do so.

Finally, I had a free period.
I had some studying to catch up on, so I decided to head to the library and get that out of the way.

I found a seat at a table near the back of the library. It was almost hidden due to the bookshelves.

I sat down and pulled out some of my workbooks.
After studying for around half an hour, I decided to take a break and find a book to read.

I trailed my fingertips along the shelves until I finally found a book I was interested in. I stood on my tip toes struggling to reach.

"I've got that for you." A figure appeared behind me and grabbed the book with ease. "The body snatchers, hm? Good choice."

I could hear the person's smile from their tone.

Finally, I turn around to make eyes with a tall brunette. He wore a button-up shirt, the top button being loose; and a leather jacket almost hanging off of his shoulders and some blue jeans.

I gave a small nod and smiled, not exactly sure what to say. "Chuck." He nodded and held out his hand.
"Thanks, Chuck." I smiled and shook his hand.

"Yeah, no problem, Danika." He walked over to the table that I was previously sitting at. I followed
"You know my name?" I moved my bag off of the chair I had been sitting on and sat down across from him.

"Small town." He shrugged and pulled out a familiar book. "Not that small." I lightly chuckled.
"Yearbook." He held up the book he was reading.

"1964 was not a good year for me." I lightly laughed.
"I think you look nice." He didn't take his eyes off of me.

We both stared at each other in silence until he spoke up.

"That's an interesting book in your friend's bag. I've never seen anything quite like it." He admired the picture, taking everything into detail.

"Oh, right. Art project." I lied.
That's what we told everyone. Although, I don't actually take art considering I'm shit at it, so that raises questions when the person cares enough to acknowledge that I do.

"Are you new here?" I quickly changed the subject.
"Yeah. Just moved from out of town." He closed the yearbook, giving me all of his attention.

"Where'd you live before?" The conversation was beginning to get extremely awkward considering the lack of things to talk about.

"Moved around a lot." Chuck brushed me off.
"Ah. Well, I better go." I looked up at the clock, which read 2:55 pm.

"Yeah, me too. I'll walk you out." He placed the yearbook in his schoolbag, before loosely slinging it over his shoulders.

"Alright." I stood up and walked out by his side.

"I like your cardigan." Chuck complimented.
"Thank you." I observed his appearance. "I like your shirt."

Chuck smiled, continuing to walk silently beside me.
All that could be heard was the autumn leaves crunching under our feet.

"That's my friends. It was nice meeting you, Chuck." I looked over to Ida, Gina and Becky, who were standing with Willy.

"You too, Danika."
The boy walked over to some people and I walked over to my friends and brother.
