I spent the whole night thinking about Chuck.
I hate boys, so I'm honestly not sure why I couldn't shop thinking of him."Danika, go to sleep. You've been listening to this awful music all night." Willy had bags under his eyes. He shut off my record player.
"Calm down, Willy. It's only." I looked up at my clock. "3am." My smile dropped. "Exactly. Get some rest, Dani." He rubbed his eyes and waddled out.
I closed my notebook and walked over to my bed, getting under the covers and laying down.
I stared at the ceiling for what felt like hours.
Wait, I looked at my clock. Oh, it has been hours.
The time read 6:23am.I had around 7 minutes of sleep.
What's the point? I thought to myself as I stood up and walked to the bathroom. That morning I showered, brushed my teeth, got ready, did whatever I had to do.
"Are you ready yet?" My mom shouted from downstairs. "Yes!" I yelled as I smoothed out my hair.
"Danika! Are you ready yet?" My mom yelled again."This woman will be the death of me," I muttered as I ran downstairs. "I'm ready. I'm ready." I grumbled.
"You look like death." My stepdad stared at my tired face."Whatever." I pushed past him as he scowled at me. "You do look quite tired. Have you slept?" Willy butted in.
"Mhm." I muttered as I walked out of the door.
As I laid my head against the car window, I could've sworn I almost fell asleep like 15 times
"Danika, wake up." Willy nudged me as the car came to a stop. "What?" I groaned and lifted my head off of my palm.
"We're here."
'I should've cooked a spell that would cancel school'
I thought to myself as I threw my bag over my shoulder."Where is everyone?" I asked as we exited the car. "We're 30 minutes late, Dani."
"Thank the Lord. I hate maths."
Willy scoffed and fast-walked to his first period. We only had around 20 minutes left so I decided to skip the class.
I'd only ever done this twice before, so I wasn't exactly experienced with not getting caught.
People usually just hung out in the bathrooms, but they're disgusting, so I'm definitely not doing that.
I decided that it'd be best to stick to the quieter parts of the school so that I wouldn't run into any teachers.
I heard a noise behind me.
Heel's clinking."Fuck!" I whisper-yelled.
As I turned the corner to the next hall, my body collided with another. Before I could groan in pain, a hand covered my mouth. Finally, I looked up to see who it was.
How ironic, it was Chuck. He must have noticed my confused expression, considering he placed his finger in the air to signify he'd speak in a minute.
Chuck and I stood there in silence.
His free hand moved to my waist as the other stayed on my mouth. It surprisingly wasn't awkward, but comforting considering we were most likely about to be skipping class.
After a minute or two most footsteps backed off and Chuck removed his hands from me.
"Didn't take you as a girl who would skip classes." Chuck awkwardly said. "Can't say the same about you, Mr womanizer." I rolled my eyes.
"Mhm, very funny."
"So... Why exactly are you cutting class?" The boy asked. "Well, there's only about 15 minutes left now so what's the point of going." I shrugged and walked alongside Chuck.
"Fair enough."
"And why are you cutting class?" I looked at Chuck.
"Maths first. Not a fan." He smiled to himself.
"Yeah, I think I sit near you in maths.""Yeah?" "Mhm."
Chuck had a strange expression on his face.
I decided to ignore it.Suddenly, I perked up. "I forgot to give you this." I pulled his hoodie out of my backpack. "Wow, a girl who actually gives me my hoodies back." He jokes.
I know it was a joke, but it made me feel a sort of sadness in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't tell if it was because he was giving his hoodies to other girls or, well, that's really the only answer I can come up with.
"Mhm." I murmured.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Chuck looking down at me and smirking. Before I can mention anything, we were stopped by someone clearing their throat.
Well fuck.
"Miss Thompson and Mr..." The lady waited for Chuck to state his last name.
He froze for a second, "Hankins.""Mr Hankins. Where are you two supposed to be right now?" Her thick Australian accent spoke.
"Erm, maths." I answered. "And why aren't you there?"I looked at Chuck, who looked at me.
"We were... Uh, delivering a note"
"Exploring"Chuck and I both said at the same time.
I looked up at him. "Exploring?" I whisper-yelled."Alright, you two, come with me." The women's heels clicked against the floor as she walked towards us and eventually past us.
Chuck and I reluctantly followed.

"As punishment for not showing up to classes, you will both have to sort out the books in the library alphabetically." Said principal Walker.
"What's the point of that?" Chuck asked frustrated.
"There is no point that's why it's called punishment." Principal Walker stated."So when are we doing this?" I asked, dreading the answer. "Breaktime and lunchtime."
How wonderful.
