"Mom you missed the turn to the airport!" I said tapping my mom on the shoulder. "Were not going to that airport." My town was small and I knew for a fact there was not another airport less than 15 hours away. We pulled into a small lot with a metal gate about two blocks away from the actual airport. A man wearing a Dolce & Gabbana black crew neck T-shirt under a yellow silk crew neck jumper with Versace Signature Medusa Car Shoes stopped us. "Hello my dear." The man said while kissing my mom on the cheek. Um this is america you don't just kiss random strangers I thought to myself. Who was this guy? He looked straight out of a Vogue magazine. "Hello Charles." My mom said kissing him back. "This must be the kids! Hmm wait! Its Mick, 13? And Brandy umm 15??"
"I'm 16." I said with a glare
"Oh well I'm Charles.." He stared at us. "Your moms new boyfriend."
My face turned pale. "BOYFRIEND!" I screamed towards my mom who was getting the luggage out of our worn down suburban. "Oh I didn't tell you, well surprise!!"
"Mom I think you have a lot of explaining to do!"
"Charles will you give us a minute?" She asked sweetly. "Why of course, Ill take your bags to the plane." He said picking up my Walmart duffle with a broken strap. "What plane?" Said Mick we both ignored him.
"I'm sorry, I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to be upset." She pleaded. "Upset! Of course I'm Upset, We have every right to be, right Mick?" I turned around hoping he would pitch in but there he was eyeing the million dollar jet sitting across the lot.
"Mick!"
"Oh right yeah, were soo upset! Mom who's jet??" He said astonished. "Uh." I moaned "Mick please help me make a point! Now mom tell me the truth, Are we really going to California to be with dad?" I asked, Mick got quiet and turned around
"No. He doesn't know were coming."
"Oh my god!" I yelled. "You have got to be kidding me!" I turned around and got back into our car. "I'm not leaving this car until I know the truth."
"The truth, Okay you deserve that. I met Charles through work, we talked a lot during his business weekend here in Virginia and he told me to move back with him to California, to live with his family."
His family!! Your here to tell me we are leaving all of our friends and family for this guy you just met!"
"I didn't just meet him.. This has been going on for about a year now."
"You mean you've been dating this Posh bloke for year now and you didn't tell us!"
"Brandy will you stop it! And yes a year, You have every right to be mad but living with him will be a million times better than anything we could have living in Virginia, He has a home right on the beach with a huge pool and you both get your own room and bathroom."
"If your trying to bribe me its not working!" I said with a smirk
"Brandy than what will work, Can you just say yes, say yes for me, I have had a tough couple of years and I feel my life, our lives are finally turning around."
I couldn't argue anymore, She is finally happy I didn't wanna take that away from her. "Okay fine." I said starting to smile. "Yay!! Next stop Cali!" She yelled hopping into Charles private jet. As I sat down in a seat a young girl who looked to be a flight attendant came to me. "Hello Brandy may I interest you in anything before we accent into the air?" Her voice was so elegant. "Um yeah can I have some water?" My voice sounded nothing like hers.
"Of course, would you like Fiji, Voss, Pellegrino, or Gerolsteiner?
"Um water please.." She laughed and handed me a bottle of Fiji with some complimentary cookies. As I was looking out the window the plane's engine started to go and we were slowly moving towards the runway. "Welcome aboard to Wanderlust, hope you all enjoy your flight." Said the pilot through the loud speaker. My stomach instantaneously starting growling as we accented into the sky. "Brandy, Mick would you guys care for some dessert?" Charles said pulling out two boxes of Krispy Kremes glazed donuts. Like trying to bribe us with fancy water and donuts is really gonna make you are new dad. "Wow man you rock!" Said mick diving right into the box. Mick obviously has been bought.
As we descended into the sky I gathered my magazines Zia, the flight attendant had given me and my fancy Fiji water. "Thank you folks for flying Fitzpatrick airlines." Said the pilot. "Thank you so much for everything!" I said to Zia as I walked off the plane. "Zia! Will you please take the kids to the house in he Range Rover." Yelled Charles pointing to the SUV. "Wait your coming with us? Don't you work on the plane?" I asked embarrassed. "Haha, no I'm Charles caretaker aka your new nanny." She said opening the door to the car. "Nanny? Like a babysitter because I really do not need that." Mick said shoving another donut into his face. "No not exactly, I live at the house, I drive you wherever you want to go, I do your laundry, take you shopping whatever you want I'll be the one to call."
"So you are like our servant!" Mick yells.
"Mick shut up!" I scream
"Haha I guess you can call me that."
"Thats not fair I want a boy servant!!" Yells Mick laughing. "Ha i'm sure Finn will be happy to hear that."
"Who's Finn?" I asked intrigued. "My co-worker aka the pool boy aka Mick's "Servant"" She says laughing.
After driving down the streets of Sunny California we pull into a gated in place. Zia opens the window and punches in the code to open the gates. They swing open and a voice says "Hello Zia and friends." We drive into the driveway of what looks to be a castle. "Do we live her??" Asks Mick astonished. "Yes Mick we live here." Responds Zia laughing. It was the biggest house I had ever seen.
