"Alright has everyone got their forms" The teacher's voice drones on, not a trace of excitement to be heard.
"You will need those forms to know which families you have been assigned to and where to go" and just like that, we have been left to collect our belongings from the bus, unsupervised. The great duty of care displayed by our teacher. We are being forced to stay with a randomly selected family who has a kid that goes to the school we will be studying at for a week. Weird, I know. Not exactly my idea of fun but it was a requirement to be on the trip. Something about widening our social skills or something like that.

A/N: For reference. If you have seen the movie 'LOL' starring Miley Cirus it's similar to what they do on their field trip.   ✩

An arm wraps around my shoulder and bodyweight is immediately leaned onto me. I turn my head expectantly.
"Hey, Bas" the African American boy smiles back at me; his teeth have always been an unusually white shade of well, white.
"Hey, Jay, You down to run away with me if we get stuck with some freaky family?" I give off a laugh and just shrug.
"Hey, as long as it's not one of those really religious families that give off the vibe of 'they are in a cult and will sacrifice me to Jesus Christ I'll be fine" he shudders in horror at the possibility.
"If that happens I will be your knight in shining armor but if I get there and see candles or pig's blood I'm sorry man but you're on your own" I snort at the ridiculous thought.
"Gee my hero" I roll my eyes as Baz gives me a devilish grin.

Bastion Hussan has been my best friend since the first grade. As a child, it was hard for me to make friends due to my apparently 'unfriendly permanent scowl' that still exists to this day. But then there was Bas. He thought it would be funny to run my arm over with one of those weird tricycle bikes the first time we met. He had the most shit-eating grin whilst doing it as well. In return I threw a bucket of sand I had gathered from the sandpit and threw it straight in his eyes, he had to go to the doctor and couldn't see for a few days. We have been best friends ever since. Who knew the strongest friendship I've ever had could start with a broken arm and being temporarily blind?

I'm snapped out of my train of thought as Bas flicks my septum piercing. I snap my head back, rubbing my nose in pain and glaring at him. He just shrugs with a grin.
"It was crooked and annoying me" Sticking out my tongue I flip him the middle finger.
"Asshole" Bas gives me a pout but it's instantly replaced with an 'ah whatever' expression.

"Btw man I love the newest edition to the piercings," Bas explains grinning. I give him a confused expression. What was my last piercing again? Bas knowingly sticks out his tongue and points revealing his own tongue piercing. Oh, that's right. Bas, myself, and a few other random school acquaintances all got shitfaced and on impulse decided to get tongue piercings. Most of course have already taken theirs out but Bas and I stuck to the commitment.Boy did I earn myself a beating for that one when the parents found out. Remember kids, be safe when underage drinking. Or don't. Some of the best memories.  occur drunk.

"Still stand with this being the best-drunk idea I've had!" He states proudly, my eyes rolling on impulse.
"Bas you have no good drunk Ideas, this one was mine remember you just did it cause you felt left out" He shrugs at me.
"I never did care for details," he points to the paper in my hand

"By the way, who do you have to stay with"he asks and I look down at the sheet in my hand scanning across the words until I find the information I need.
"I have been assigned to.... the Smith family...God could there be a more generic last name I swear" I groan as Bas stands there cringing.
"Well that's boring, who's your partner for the house?" he says finally moving to get our bags now that the line is gone. I once again look down at the paper of information.

"-Insert unimportant name- " The name is unfamiliar as I read it out
"Never heard of them" my friend states as he pulls out my bags and then goes back to search for his own.
"Neither. What family were you assigned?" I ask as I begin to gather all of my luggage into a somewhat organized pile in the Taxi waiting zone. Bas joins me a second later with his own luggage and dumps it down in a very messy pile.

He pulls out a crumpled-up ball of paper from his pocket and smooths it out. Squinting at the paper in concentration I can't help but snort.
"You never were one for being neat, how did you already manage to squiggle all over that sheet? We got it when we got off the bus" I ask amazed, my question is returned with a middle finger.
"Oh fuck off. I don't like neat it makes me anxious" I give him a taunting pat on the shoulder and a fake sniffle.
"I know darling it's alright. You'll be okay" He shoves me off with a stifled laugh and looks back down at his paper.
"Yeah right asshole. Anyways it says my partner is Dylan,"

Dylan is another one of our friends, I wouldn't say a close friend but a friend "and it states that my assigned family for the next two weeks will be the... Millwaki? Family" He gives the paper a confused look
"Huh weird name" Millwaki? Where have I heard that before? HAVE I even heard that before? I brush it off as I see the Taxi approach. We hop in and give the driver both addresses and then we are off.
2 weeks of freedom and all I have to do is play nice, stay with some kid's family and attend their school. I don't know about that last part though, who says I will actually go?

I'm not really going to describe Marshell and Clarissa Hargrove but just know that they don't look like very nice people. Clarissa has a redish, brownish hair colour and Marshell has pitch black hair. They look nothing like Jacob really.
