Chapter 3
"Isn't it too early to get up already?"Dad asked, yawning as he proceeded to the bathroom.
Oh, absolutely. I'm already awake since I need to go to the bookstore, which is a short distance from our house. As soon as Dad said that, he turned to face me and ran up to me, asking whether I was okay.
"What are you doing?" I asked as he rested his palm on my forehead.
"I'm checking to see if you have a fever," he replied as he continued to examine me.
"Dad, I don't have a fever," I responded, crossing my arms, "and I got up early because I needed to go to the bookstore."
"Bookstore?!", I used my hand to close his mouth after he yelled a question.
"Yes, you're being too loud. I had to go because I had a competition to attend", I confessed shyly.
"Honey, this is your first time. I'm really proud of you" He stated this while holding both of my shoulders.
"Don't expect too much from me, Dad. I don't think I'll be able to make it", I muttered, averting my eyes.
"Honey, I know you can do it. You're intelligent but lazy, and I have to get ready for work immediately", I rolled my eyes at him. I said my goodbyes to Dad and left. I texted Chaeyoung to tell her not to pick me up since I'm going to the bookstore, and she seemed surprised. What is the problem? I need to improve my historical knowledge (even though I don't have any left knowledge in my brain). I took the bus and was amazed by how lovely our town looked. Those large trees in the streets are beneficial to us. Looking around, I see that everyone is too preoccupied with their lives, and I've just realized that this is my stop. And I'm so talkative, talking nonsense.
I walked into the store, and it was utterly quiet. Of course, if you are too loud inside the bookstore, the bookkeeper will kick you out and curse you for the rest of your life, since you will never forget her speech. I asked the bookkeeper about the location of those historical books. I went to the location where she pointed her finger and was astounded by the size of the books. I picked one book and was surprised by how heavy it was.
"This is too big," I grumbled as I gripped the book tightly.
Someone behind me said, "Yeah, it's so big," that made me startled and I let go of the book in my hand and landed on my foot. I cursed as I clutched my foot. I believe this is the first time I've cursed and named all the saints that I know. This jerk grasped my hand and asked whether I was okay. I smacked her hand and saw Chou Tzuyu when I looked up. I cleared my throat and stood up quickly.
"I-I'm okay," I stuttered, embarrassed to be in front of her.
"Are you sure? I'm sorry if I startled you, I was looking for a history book as well and I found you," She said as she stared at me. I looked down and tucked my hair behind my ear. For what reason? "Assignment?" I asked, a little nervously.
"No, for Jungkook, my friend. For the competition, he asked me to go get some history books. Are you Jungkook's partner?" She asked and rubbed her nape.
I looked down and answered, "oh yeah, I'm his partner unfortunately."
"Hey, I think you can do it. Don't put any pressure on yourself when you're with him; just do your best", She said with a smile. She gave me a freaking smile that was as dazzling as the stars in the sky, and now I'm going to stop. I'm exaggerating a lot. We had been staring at each other for too long when the bookkeeper stopped abruptly on our side.
"So are you buying the book or simply staring at each other?" She stated as she walked away. I was taken aback by what the bookkeeper said, so I looked at Tzuyu to see how she reacted. I smiled at her shyness, and she decided to help me in getting the book I needed.
